Ms. Hien was born in the revolutionary tradition of Giong Rieng commune. Having to become independent at an early age when her parents died, she nurtured the dream of wearing a soldier's uniform. In 2003, after graduating from high school, she volunteered to join the army and was sent to study nursing. 3 years later, she was assigned to work at the Provincial Military Command's Infirmary. Later, she studied at a university to improve her nursing skills.
Having been in the profession for more than 20 years, Ms. Hien has always kept in mind: "Medical profession is a profession of sacrifice, where the heart must be put first." During the COVID-19 outbreak, she was one of the frontline medical staff, directly taking samples for testing and isolating patients. Despite many sleepless nights, facing difficulties and dangers, she and her teammates still strived to complete the task.
In her daily work, she is always attentive and dedicated to her patients. From measuring blood pressure, performing electrocardiograms to taking care of wounds, she does everything carefully and meticulously. “Patients at the infirmary are not only soldiers but also civilians. For me, whether they are comrades, teammates or civilians, I consider them as my relatives,” Ms. Hien shared. Corporal Huynh Duc - a soldier of Company 6, Battalion 519, Regiment 893, who is being treated at the Provincial Military Command Infirmary, confided: “I have no relatives to take care of me, but thanks to Ms. Hien's constant care and encouragement, I feel warm as if I have family by my side.”
Not only is she a professional soldier, Major Phan Ut Hien is also an energetic and responsible women's union officer. She actively participates in military trips to border areas, remote areas, and isolated areas to examine and give free medicine to the people. On each trip, in addition to her professional work, she also propagates people to comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws; mobilizes people to participate in border protection, economic development, and new rural construction. During her trips to Cambodia to examine and give free medicine to the poor, her image as a dedicated and friendly Vietnamese female soldier has left a good impression, contributing to fostering solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
Senior Lieutenant Tran Huynh Thi Le Huyen - President of the Women's Union of the Provincial Military Command commented: "Comrade Phan Ut Hien is always proactive, dedicated and highly responsible for the assigned work, is a typical example in building a happy family, actively mobilizing women to develop family economy, and has been considered an excellent union cadre for many consecutive years".
