According to initial information, fishing boat BD 83019-TS is 22.6m long, 800CV capacity, fishing with a net, owned and captained by Mr. Ng.Tr.U. (born in 1967, residing in De Gi commune, Gia Lai province). The boat departed at 13:50 on October 4 at Ca Na Border Control Station (Khanh Hoa).
At about 22:30 on the same day, while operating about 17 nautical miles southeast of Ca Na estuary, the fishing boat was hit by the oil tanker MS FAVOR (98m long, 16m wide, draft 4.5m), Korean nationality (MMSI 440870000, IMO 009448853, signal D7MM) traveling in a South - North direction.

After the collision, fishing boat BD 83019-TS sent out an emergency distress signal and was approached by fishing boat BV 95869-TS (HCMC) captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Tao (born in 1989, from Cat Tien commune, Gia Lai province) who rescued 10/11 crew members. Captain Ng.Tr.U. was missing, suspected to be trapped in the ship's cabin.
At 10:48 p.m. on October 4, fishing boat BD 83019-TS completely sank and lost connection to the journey monitoring. Currently, boat BV 95869-TS is taking the 10 distressed crew members to Ca Na port to hand over to the authorities and their families.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command, based on information from fisherman Nguyen Hung (captain of fishing boat BD 93966-TS, same province), after causing the accident, the Korean oil tanker continued its journey without stopping to rescue.
Faced with the above situation, the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command has issued a document proposing the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Military Command and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to report to the National Search and Rescue Committee, requesting the Navy Command, Coast Guard and the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Regions II and IV to mobilize vehicles to search for the missing captain.
At the same time, the Command Committee proposed that the Provincial People's Committee notify and discuss with the Maritime Administration ( Ministry of Transport ) to direct the Maritime Port Authorities of the provinces to coordinate in grasping information related to the Korean oil tanker for handling.
A fishing boat with 10 fishermen is still missing.
On the same day (October 5), the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command said that fishing boat BD-97258-TS captained by Mr. Huynh Van Son (Hoai Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai) and 9 fishermen lost contact during storm No. 10 and there is still no information.

Recently, Mr. Huynh Van Chim (ship BD-96433-TS has reached shore) said that Mr. Son's fishing boat went missing late on September 27 while on the way to avoid storm No. 10.
According to the authorities, fishing boat BD-97258-TS is likely to move into an international shipping route 147 nautical miles off the coast of Quy Nhon ward (Gia Lai), and is suspected of colliding with transport ships at sea...
