The enterprise's document clearly states: the formation of this route is in accordance with Decision 1125/QD-TTg dated June 11, 2025 of the Prime Minister on approving the Project to adjust the general planning of Ho Chi Minh City to 2040, with a vision to 2060, which emphasizes the requirement to develop modern transport infrastructure, increase regional and inter-regional connectivity capacity.
According to Vingroup, after Ba Ria - Vung Tau province merged into Ho Chi Minh City, the need to form a direct traffic route connecting the two coastal areas became urgent. The Can Gio - Vung Tau area has a strategic position in terms of marine economy, tourism and ecological urban development, but currently the traffic infrastructure is still limited, mainly depending on ferries and roundabouts.
Investing in a bridge or road across the sea will significantly shorten travel time between the two areas, creating a new traffic corridor connecting functional areas in the city. The project will open up space for socio-economic development, trade, tourism and sustainable urbanization for the coastal area.
"Vingroup Corporation respectfully requests the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to allow it to research and invest in the Can Gio - Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) sea route under the BT form. This policy is the first step to assess feasibility and serve as a legal basis for the next steps," the document stated.
Vingroup affirmed its readiness to accompany the city long-term in realizing key transport infrastructure plans, contributing to improving regional connectivity and sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City's coastal space.
