After the article "Risk of landslides on the highway overpass through Thanh Hoa" was published on VietNamNet, on September 22, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province sent a document to the Department of Transport, the People's Committee of Ha Trung district and the Thang Long Project Management Board ( Ministry of Transport ) requesting inspection, verification and handling according to the reflection.
According to Thanh Hoa Department of Transport, at the time of inspection, the section from Km 0+320 - Km 0+440 of the approach road to the M1 abutment of the overpass at Km 300+360, which crosses Gieng mountain in Bai Son village, Ha Tien commune, Ha Trung district (crossing the Mai Son - National Highway 45 project), had been completed and put into operation by the contractor.
The left slope has a height of 3.9-16.2m without any reinforcement solution. The right slope has a height of 22.6-54m, of which the section from the road surface elevation up to 12m has been reinforced by spraying concrete mortar with steel mesh, anchors and soft fences against falling rocks; the slope height range from 12-54m has no reinforcement solution.
In fact, the left slope and the right slope from the height of 12-54m have many long, large cracks, interspersed with soil veins, so the risk of landslides and rolling rocks is very high, especially when there is heavy rain.
The two ends of the right-side slope (the beginning of the route is 26.7m high and the end of the route is 22.64m high) do not have soft barriers to prevent rockfall, posing a high risk of causing insecurity to people and vehicles participating in traffic.
The above section of route DT522B has a large traffic volume of people and vehicles, many students pass through here every day, so people in the area feel insecure and worried, which is reasonable.
Accordingly, Thanh Hoa Department of Transport requested the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to issue a document to the Ministry of Transport, directing the Thang Long Project Management Board to supplement the solution of reinforcing the slope by spraying concrete mortar with steel mesh, anchors and combining the solution of soft fences against rockfalls in the range of both ends of the positive slope on the right side from Km 0+320 - Km 0+440.
In addition, fully deploy the W.228 "Rockfall" warning sign system at both ends of the route; supplement the slope reinforcement with concrete grouting and steel mesh, anchoring the left and right positive slope range from the remaining height of 12-54m. Construction to be completed before December 31, 2023.
