Strengthening cooperation and fostering friendship between Hai Phong and Korean partners

Not only is Hai Phong a strategic investment center for large Korean corporations, it is also a pioneer in expanding cooperation in education, health, culture and technology, creating a solid foundation for comprehensive and sustainable development between the two sides.

Cooperation in many fields

During the working trip of the delegation of the Gwangyang City Education Office, Jeolla Nam Province (Korea) and the Representative Office of the Korean Education Department Abroad in Vietnam, one of the important contents discussed was to further expand the implementation of Korean language teaching in Hai Phong.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Thuan, Head of the Department of Continuing Education, Vocational Education and University (Department of Education and Training), Hai Phong is the first city in the country to implement the general education program of foreign language 1 Korean according to the program of the Ministry of Education and Training . Up to now, nearly 40 educational institutions in the city teach Korean with thousands of students studying and participating in Korean cultural activities in the form of foreign language 1, 2 and clubs. Thereby helping Hai Phong become one of the local models in educational cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries. In the coming time, many educational institutions in the city will continue to introduce Korean into teaching in many forms. This is an effective bridge for the two sides to continue to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation in many fields.

Sharing the same orientation, Mr. Kim Hyundong, Director of the Korean Education Office in Vietnam, expressed his wish to continue accompanying Hai Phong in supporting Korean teachers, textbooks and organizing student exchange activities. He affirmed that through educational and cultural cooperation, the two sides not only enhance mutual understanding but also foster friendship and connect the young generations of the two countries.

A delegation from the Gwangyang City Education Office, Jeolla Nam Province (Korea) and the Representative Office of the Korean Education Office Abroad in Vietnam worked in Do Son ward to discuss educational cooperation.

Along with education and culture, the medical and social fields are also clear evidence of the practical cooperation, towards the benefit of the community between the two sides. In August 2013, a delegation from Eulji Hospital (Korea) came to examine, treat and give free medicine to more than 1,000 people in Duong Kinh district and the old An Lao district of Hai Phong. Since then, many visits, working sessions and medical and social cooperation projects between Hai Phong and Korean units, organizations and hospitals have continued to be implemented.

Notably, Gumi Kangdong Hospital sent a delegation to Hai Phong to exchange and share experiences in treating bone diseases, spinal injuries, caring for patients and improving the capacity of medical professionals... LS Group sponsored through COPION Organization (Korea) the project "Supporting Vietnamese - Korean multicultural families and Vietnamese women who want to immigrate to Korea through marriage", opening the LS Korean - Vietnamese Dream Center Hai Phong 2024. The project aims to build a strong social protection network to support Vietnamese - Korean multicultural families to improve their quality of life; build a strong Vietnamese - Korean family community...

In addition to promoting socio-economic cooperation, Hai Phong also pays special attention to expanding local-level cooperation with Korean partners. Since 1997, Hai Phong and Incheon city have established friendly relations with many activities of delegation exchanges at all levels, investment and trade promotion, cultural exchanges, medical cooperation, training and staff exchange. Hai Phong also maintains active cooperative relations with the sister cities of Cheongju, Suwon city, and many other Korean corporations, agencies and associations. These relationships contribute to deepening friendship, promoting comprehensive cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, health and society, towards sustainable development and common prosperity of both sides.

Towards sustainable cooperation

South Korea is currently the leading country in terms of total registered capital and total number of projects among 44 countries and territories investing in the city. Hai Phong has 316 FDI projects from South Korea with a total registered capital of 15.3 billion USD, ranking first in terms of capital and third in terms of number of projects. Projects of Korean investors focus on the fields of electronics, auto parts and machinery, operating effectively, creating many high-tech products, contributing to increasing the content of science and technology in production, increasing export turnover, creating jobs for workers and making a positive contribution to the city budget.

Not only contributing positively to the socio-economic development of Hai Phong, Korean enterprises and organizations also actively participate in social security activities in the city. These include building charity houses, combining hospitals to examine and treat workers, supporting teaching equipment, sponsoring Korean language teaching programs for some schools...

Mr. Seog Myeong Gug, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Hai Phong (KOCHAM HP) said that Hai Phong is currently a stable, attractive and effective investment destination for many FDI enterprises, including Korean enterprises. The increasing number of Korean enterprises investing and cooperating in Hai Phong is a testament to that effectiveness.

To strengthen cooperation with Korean partners and enterprises, at the seminar "Opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese and Korean enterprises in Hai Phong city", Mr. Le Anh Quan, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, stated: Hai Phong always attaches importance to the business community, including Korean enterprises that have actively accompanied and made important contributions to the city's development in recent times. The city is committed to continuing to accompany and create a favorable and stable investment environment so that FDI enterprises can confidently invest long-term, effectively and sustainably. In the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to promote the improvement of the investment and business environment; support enterprises in accessing land, credit, and human resources; focus on training high-quality workers; and at the same time, encourage domestic enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to improve their capacity to cooperate with FDI enterprises and access advanced technology to increase the effectiveness of cooperation with Korean enterprises.
