3.6km route connecting Phan Thiet airport opens to traffic

The road project connecting Phan Thiet International Airport (Phan Thiet Airport) with the coastal road Vo Nguyen Giap has opened to traffic, after nearly a year of construction.

On the morning of December 31, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Traffic Works of Binh Thuan Province (investor) said that the road project connecting Phan Thiet airport to Vo Nguyen Giap street has opened to traffic.

The road connecting Phan Thiet airport has been completed and opened to traffic on the morning of December 31.

"Items such as lighting system, trees, drainage and traffic lights have been completed. Painting, road markings, traffic safety... signs have been installed and completed, meeting the conditions for the entire route to be open to traffic," said Mr. Hien.

The route connecting Phan Thiet airport with Vo Nguyen Giap coastal road will start construction at the end of January 2024.

The project is 3.63km long, 36m wide roadbed, with 13.5m wide road surface and 5m wide sidewalks on each side. The project also includes drainage system, trees, lighting and fire water supply.

To date, this project has been completed on schedule and will reach the finish line by the end of 2024.

The project is implemented by the joint venture of Thang Long Construction Design and Investment Co., Ltd. - Long Phat Trade and Construction Co., Ltd. The total investment is about 117.9 billion VND from the provincial budget.

Once completed, the route will connect Phan Thiet airport with the coastal axis of Vo Nguyen Giap, creating favorable conditions for traveling to Phan Thiet city center and famous tourist areas and resorts in Mui Ne.

Phan Thiet Airport started construction in January 2015. Up to now, the military items being built by the Air Defense - Air Force have been put into military flight operation in early August 2024.

After the opening of the road connecting Phan Thiet airport to the coastal axis of Vo Nguyen Giap street, it will contribute to promoting the development of traffic infrastructure, tourism and the regional economy.

The civil category is adjusted from a 4C airport to a 4E airport with a 3,050m runway and a passenger terminal with a designed capacity of 2 million passengers/year.

Binh Thuan province is promoting the selection of a replacement investor to soon restart the civil airport project according to regulations.
