Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives North Korean Ambassador to Vietnam

On the afternoon of September 21, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Vietnam Ri Sung Guk who came to greet him on the occasion of starting his term in Vietnam.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Ambassador Ri Sung Guk on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the DPRK to Vietnam; highly appreciated the DPRK for sending an experienced comrade in the field of foreign affairs to be Ambassador to Vietnam, thereby showing the importance of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the DPRK; affirmed that relevant Vietnamese agencies will cooperate closely to support the Ambassador in fulfilling his assigned tasks; believed that with his rich experience, Ambassador Ri Sung Guk will actively contribute to maintaining and promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries to develop further in the coming time. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the DPRK, personally built and painstakingly cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung, and continuously preserved, inherited and promoted by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. In that spirit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that during his term, Ambassador Ri Sung Guk coordinate with relevant Vietnamese agencies to continue to strengthen political trust and mutual understanding through the exchange of delegations at all levels and between ministries, departments and branches of the two countries; coordinate to implement meaningful activities on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025; promote economic cooperation between the two countries on the basis of compliance with international law and in accordance with the interests of the two countries; soon resume the meeting mechanism of the Vietnam-DPRK Intergovernmental Committee on economic, scientific and technological cooperation chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the DPRK; actively expand exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, sports and people-to-people exchange between the two countries.

Ambassador Ri Sung Guk expressed his pleasure to pay a visit to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; said he was deeply impressed by Vietnam's important achievements in many fields in recent years, especially in economic and social development and growth recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic; as well as the expansion of foreign relations with many countries in the world, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena; believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party, Vietnam will successfully achieve the goal of becoming a high-income developed country by 2045; affirmed that continuing to promote the development of bilateral relations is the consistent stance of the Party and State of the DPRK; affirmed that during his term in Vietnam, he will make every effort to contribute to promoting the development of the traditional friendship between the two countries of DPRK and Vietnam in the coming time.
