The contest is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Institute for Educational and Cultural Development.
The 2024 National Open Piano Competition is looking for piano talents from 5 to 18 years old.
At the press conference on October 28, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Institute for Education and Culture Development, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the competition is for ages 5-18, divided into 5 groups according to age with the desire to spread the love of music to students and parents who love piano. In addition, the competition also hopes to discover and nurture many musical talents.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, some studies in the US have proven that children learning piano or any other musical instrument before the age of 7 can not only increase their ability to perceive melodies, increase connections to the nervous system, but also speed up brain usage, stimulate the brain, potentially increase IQ, and help children learn better.
Learning a musical instrument also helps children practice patience, easily accept new languages and feel the emotions of others because music is a language that overcomes all barriers of age, ethnicity, etc. It also helps children express and discover their own abilities.
"In recent years, the number of children learning piano has increased dramatically. Many of them have participated in international competitions and won many prestigious awards.
However, currently in the country there are not many professional competitions for children to exchange and compete. We hope that the competition will further promote the passion and love of music of children, attracting many talents of different ages" - Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan said.
The contest organizers hope to discover and nurture many musical talents.
