Artist Le Van Hieu, Head of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in Phu Yen, said: In 2010, the Central Party Secretariat announced the conclusion of recognizing the 12th day of the 8th lunar month every year - the Anniversary of the Stage Founders - as Vietnam Stage Day.
For hundreds of years, the Theatre Ancestors' Death Anniversary has been a traditional day for the theatre community to remember their ancestors, expressing the respect and gratitude of generations for their predecessors - those who paved the way for the development of Vietnamese theatre arts.

Since 2010, the 12th day of the 8th lunar month every year has been a festival to honor the country's theater, to encourage and unite the artists in the theater field to promote the fine traditional values of the Vietnamese theater, to strive to create many works of high ideological value and artistic quality to serve the public, especially to serve the people in remote, border, island areas and the armed forces, contributing to creating a rich and healthy spiritual life for society, encouraging the whole people to unite and strive for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Going back in history, more than 400 years ago, under the order of Lord Nguyen, Phu Nghia Hau Luong Van Chanh brought more than 3,000 migrants from Thanh Hoa and Nghe An to reclaim the land from Cu Mong Pass to Ca Pass, establishing the fertile land of Phu Yen. In his journey to "open the land", he brought with him popular art forms such as Tuong and Bai Choi, creating the foundation for Phu Yen to become one of the cradles of traditional theater.

During the two wars of resistance for national independence, under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, Phu Yen maintained the Provincial Party Committee's Tuong Troupe and the Provincial Military Command's Folk Song Troupe, effectively serving the combat and production. Many talented artists were honored such as Chin Dam, Nam Ngang, Ba Ky, The Linh, Xanh, Suu, Thuy Hong, Tran Thi Bay... Some artists became famous in the North such as People's Artist Dam Lien, Meritorious Artist Dam Thanh...
After the re-establishment of Phu Yen province (July 1, 1989), although there was no troupe or theater, Phu Yen stage still joined the flow of Vietnamese stage. The Stage Association of Phu Yen Literature and Arts Association and members of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in Phu Yen actively preserved and developed art forms: Tuong, Bai Choi, Cai Luong, contributing to preserving the local cultural identity in particular and the nation in general.

“With the tradition of loving the profession and showing gratitude to their ancestors, those who work in the theater and perform theatrical activities in Phu Yen have always turned to the public to light the fire of creativity and enrich the traditional artistic values of the nation,” artist Le Van Hieu affirmed.
On this occasion, the artists respectfully offered incense to commemorate the ancestors of the stage; performed the following pieces: Song for the Ancestors (artist Hong Cuc), In us there is the Party to light the way (artist Phuong Lien), Ho Ba Trao (collective artists) and organized exchanges between teams, groups, and clubs of folk singing Bai Choi and Don Ca Tai Tu.
