General Secretary To Lam meets with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in North Korea

On the morning of October 9, in Pyongyang, within the framework of his State visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, General Secretary To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited and met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in North Korea.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the DPRK Le Ba Vinh expressed his pleasure at welcoming General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation. The Ambassador reported on the agency's activities and shared about the lives of its staff and their families.

In the warm atmosphere of the meeting, General Secretary To Lam sent his warm regards and wishes for good health and happiness to the Embassy staff and their families. The General Secretary emphasized that the State visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam took place in the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the DPRK (January 31, 1950 - January 31, 2025), and was an opportunity to affirm that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to maintain and further develop the traditional friendship with the Party, State and people of the DPRK.

The General Secretary shared the difficulties that the Embassy's staff have been experiencing, especially during the Covid-19 outbreak; at the same time, he commended and highly appreciated the Embassy's staff and their families for promoting the spirit of solidarity, cohesion, overcoming difficulties, and successfully completing the foreign affairs tasks assigned by the Party and State, contributing to promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries.

On this occasion, the General Secretary informed about the domestic situation, saying that recently, our Party has issued important resolutions, creating a premise for the country to truly take off, entering a new era of development; carrying out a revolution in organizational apparatus, rearranging administrative units and building a 2-level local government organization model, opening up more effective development space. The country's economy has maintained a very positive development momentum. National defense and security have been strengthened; national independence and sovereignty have been maintained; political security, order and social safety have been ensured... These are important foundations for Vietnam to successfully achieve the GDP growth target of over 8% by 2025 and double-digit growth in the period 2026-2030. Currently, the entire Party and political system are highly focused on organizing Party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress - a turning point congress, a special milestone on the nation's development path.

To meet the country's development needs and further promote the Vietnam-DPRK friendship and cooperation, the General Secretary requested all officials and employees of the Vietnamese Embassy in the DPRK to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, initiative and creativity to better fulfill foreign affairs tasks; to be sympathetic and supportive to stabilize life together; to promote the role of a bridge between the two countries, and to promote exchange activities suitable to the needs of both sides such as academic exchanges, exchanges of art and sports delegations, and exchanges between the two peoples.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and other members of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the Embassy grounds. Also attending the ceremony was Comrade Cho Yong Won, member of the Politburo Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Department of the Workers' Party of Korea.

General Secretary To Lam and Comrade Cho Yong Won jointly performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh. Afterwards, the delegates offered flowers in memory of President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader and great teacher of the Vietnamese people. He and President Kim Il Sung laid the foundation for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and North Korea in the mid-20th century, which generations of leaders and people of the two countries have continuously nurtured.

According to Ambassador Le Ba Vinh, the inauguration of the Statue of President Ho Chi Minh is not only a great joy for the Vietnamese people but also for the people of our friendly country, North Korea. During the construction process, the Vietnamese Embassy has received the support and most favorable conditions from agencies, departments, branches and the people of North Korea.
