Ho Chi Minh City: Bringing a warm Mid-Autumn Festival to 500 children orphaned due to COVID-19

On the evening of October 4, 500 orphans and children in difficult circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic had a very special Mid-Autumn Festival night at Dam Sen Cultural Park (Ho Chi Minh City). In a space with bright lights, the children had fun, watched art performances, received gifts and together enjoyed the full joy of the "19th Mid-Autumn Festival".

This is an annual program organized by Saigon Tourist Corporation ( Saigontourist Group) in coordination with Thanh Nien Newspaper and accompanying units, as part of a series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saigontourist Group.

Each child attending received a gift worth more than 1 million VND, including a full entertainment package ticket, a meal voucher, moon cakes, lanterns and a 300,000 VND scholarship. For many children, this was the first time since the pandemic that they were able to immerse themselves in such a warm and joyful Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere.

Mr. Truong Duc Hung, General Director of Saigontourist Group shared: “The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only an occasion for fun but also a commitment to share and accompany the community. Each gift, each word of encouragement is a way to kindle hope, helping children gain more confidence after loss.”

This year's program has also been expanded to the old Binh Duong and old Ba Ria - Vung Tau areas, with many early Mid-Autumn Festival activities for orphans who cannot return to Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Truong Duc Hung, General Director of Saigontourist Group, said: "This year's program has a particularly profound meaning as it is aimed at children who have unfortunately lost their loved ones after the COVID-19 pandemic. It is our effort to share part of the burden and give them strength on the challenging journey ahead."

Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, added: “We accompany the program as a continuation of the project "Continuing Life with Children", which has supported nearly 2,000 orphans due to COVID-19 from 2021 to present.”

Along with Ho Chi Minh City, Saigontourist Group also gave thousands of Mid-Autumn gifts to disadvantaged children in Dak Lak, Quang Tri, Nghe An... The total value of the activity was more than 1.6 billion VND.
