Pioneer of electronic medical records
Under the direction of the Prime Minister, medical facilities nationwide must complete electronic medical records before September 30, 2025. Realizing the campaign "45 days and nights to accelerate electronic medical records" launched by the Department of Health of Quang Ngai province, Binh Son Medical Center pioneered the implementation of electronic medical records and completed it at the end of August.
To implement electronic medical records, since April, the unit has conducted a survey of the current state of infrastructure, staff capacity and additional conditions needed to upgrade the system. After three months, the center has completed upgrading the server room system, installing software, and completing training for staff to operate electronic medical records; at the same time, implementing medical examination and treatment using electronic medical records.
After 45 minutes of examination, Mr. Pham Kiem in Binh Chuong commune received the results and received in-depth consultation.
“I have an arrhythmia so I came here to have an electrocardiogram and treatment. I didn’t have to wait long, the doctor did the procedure quickly and neatly so I was less tired,” said Mr. Pham Kiem.

Every day, the Department of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, Binh Son Medical Center receives and treats more than 100 inpatients. After examining the patient, doctors prescribe treatment through the computer software system and transfer to specialized departments and rooms. The results of paraclinical tests, ultrasounds, and images of the patient are quickly transferred to the Department of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases via the electronic system so that doctors can continue to advise and treat the patient.
Doctor Dang Thi Thuy Nhung, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, said that after nearly a month of using electronic medical records, patient care and department and room management have become more proactive.
Previously, medical records and recording information took time and effort, but now the available data input is faster. In the past, when I needed patient information, I had to call the departments to request it, but now, when necessary, I can still view all data from the electronic medical record at home and promptly advise the patient. Electronic medical records eliminate distances and save a lot of time so that we can advise the patient more.

Competing with private healthcare by quality
With a large area, dense population, and many developing industrial clusters, Binh Son Medical Center has both opportunities and competitive pressure from private hospitals and clinics. Therefore, improving the quality of medical services is the core condition for the center to retain patients.

Right from the entrance to the departments and rooms, patients can easily recognize the difference: airy campus, lots of green areas, small gardens; orderly reception area with electronic numbering system; dedicated nurses. In the inpatient area, the hallways are clean, there are enough waiting chairs, wifi, drinking water, phone charging stations, children's playgrounds... to serve patients and relatives.
On early weekdays, this place welcomes nearly 700-800 people coming for medical examination and treatment with quick and orderly procedures.
“This hospital is clean from the rooms to the surrounding space, so I really like it. The rooms have full furniture and living utensils like at home, so it is more comfortable than other places,” said Ms. Phan Thi Chuc in Van Tuong commune.

To compete with private hospitals and clinics, over the years, Binh Son Medical Center has chosen its own path. The unit promotes digital transformation, improves the quality of medical services, and adjusts the examination and treatment process effectively in the shortest time.
In addition, doctors and nurses take care of patients with love and responsibility; creating a green and warm hospital campus. From trust and prestige, the medical facility is chosen by people in 5 northern communes of Quang Ngai province and neighboring areas for health care. With revenue, the unit continues to invest and add more services and facilities to serve patients better and better.
To compete with private facilities, the center must be better. Our motto is to approach medical services, facilities, and amenities close to private hospitals without increasing costs for patients. We are determined to attract and retain patients with the best medical services.

In 2024, Binh Son Medical Center, Quang Ngai province received nearly 182,000 medical examinations, 149,000 outpatients, 14,000 inpatients, mainly from the northern communes of Quang Ngai province and neighboring areas. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the unit has received nearly 114,000 visits, 88,000 outpatients and 9,000 inpatients; caring for more than 1,100 special subjects.
“I have been here for more than ten years, taking care of and serving the people with my colleagues. Previously, the equipment was not adequate, but now there are many new, modern machines to support more effective treatment for patients,” said medical engineering bachelor Nguyen Trung Do.
Along with professional work, for nearly two years, Binh Son Medical Center, Quang Ngai province has been increasingly active in implementing the model of "Supporting food expenses for poor patients". For patients without shelter and poor households, the Center supports 70,000 VND per day for food. Up to now, the Center's staff has supported nearly 500 cases of poor people and families with difficult circumstances with food expenses.

For regional hospitals, the quality of medical examination, treatment, and paraclinical services to screen patients and retain patients helps reduce the situation of going beyond the prescribed level, reducing pressure and overload in the health system.
“The Center’s staff and officers are in agreement that we always want medical services to reach ‘5-star’ standards, even though they mainly serve patients with health insurance. Low-income people and those with the most difficult circumstances who come to the hospital are also treated equally and enjoy the best services. We believe that humanity comes from concrete actions,” Dr. Vo Hung Vien shared.
