Speaking to VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Le Dinh Nam, Assistant of the Training Department, Border Guard Academy said that on October 2, the Academy had sent a document confirming and requesting Vinh University to coordinate in resolving the case of Lang Duc Bang - a male student who scored 29 points to pass the army but was later disqualified due to health reasons. In addition, the school also sent a document to the Ministry of Education and Training to report this incident.
The Academy said that Bang had passed his first choice of admission based on his 2025 high school graduation exam scores to the Border Defense sector. However, upon health check, the candidate did not meet the requirements for admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense .
According to the document requesting coordination to resolve the issue for candidate Lang Duc Bang, the Border Guard Academy requested Vinh University to consider and create conditions for the candidate to be admitted according to his/her registered wishes to the school.

In the 2025 high school graduation exam, Bang scored 29 points in block C00 with 9.25 in Literature, 9.75 in History and 10 in Geography. Thanks to the priority points, his total score was 29.37, passing his first choice to the Border Guard Academy.
However, a few days after enrolling, the results of the health check at the school showed that Bang had hepatitis B. The school created conditions for him to be treated at the hospital for 11 days, but the test results were still positive. On September 27, according to the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, Bang was forced to return to his hometown.
With the second registration wish to enter the History Pedagogy major of Vinh University. However, this school has ended the second round of additional admissions at 23:59 on September 16.
After that, the male student wrote a letter to the Minister of Education and Training asking for consideration of his study opportunity. In the application to the Minister of Education and Training, Bang wrote: “I am an ethnic minority, my family circumstances are difficult, my parents work hard all year round in farming. Therefore, I always try to study hard, hoping to get into a Police, Military or Pedagogical school to help my parents reduce the burden of tuition fees.
The dream was just a little bit away but suddenly became far away. I respectfully hope that the leaders at all levels will consider and create conditions for me to study my second choice - History Faculty, Vinh University, so that I do not miss the opportunity to study due to unavoidable reasons...
According to admissions experts, Lang Duc Bang still has a chance to get into university, if his next choice school still has vacancies and agrees to accept him.
