
Attending and directing the contest were Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard; Comrade Nguyen Hong Duong, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee; representatives of agencies under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Command of President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Military Region 3, Military Hospital 354, leaders of the Party Committee, People's Committee of Co To Special Zone...

Before entering the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 30 scholarships to disadvantaged students who have overcome difficulties in studying at three schools: Co To High School, Co To Middle School and Dong Tien Middle School; gave 30 gifts to families of policy beneficiaries, war invalids, fishermen in difficult circumstances; gave three 65-inch TVs to three schools and 20 bicycles to students here.

Before the contest, the Organizing Committee coordinated with Co To Secondary School and Dong Tien Secondary School to organize a drawing contest with the themes "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" and "Vietnam Coast Guard soldiers". The supplementary contest was attended by many students from both schools. The Organizing Committee awarded 10 consolation prizes to the best authors who made it to the final round.

The contest “I love the sea and islands of my homeland” with the participation of 60 students from Co To Secondary School and Dong Tien Secondary School. The contest was organized in the form of a multiple choice test with 3 parts: “Going out to sea”; “Overcoming the waves” and “Setting sovereignty markers”.
The questions focus on basic knowledge about Vietnam's seas and islands; Vietnam's Law on the Sea; Vietnam's Coast Guard Law; tasks, functions, and traditions of the Coast Guard; propaganda about the harmful effects of drugs, negative effects of school violence and how to prevent them; and propaganda about the homeland's traditions.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded one first prize, one second prize, three third prizes and seven consolation prizes. Nguyen Thi Bao Chau, a student of class 8B, Co To Secondary School, excellently won the first prize of the contest.

Comrade Le Ngoc Han, Provincial Party Committee member, Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Co To Special Zone, said that the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands" organized in the locality is a meaningful activity to widely propagate to cadres, union members, youth, and students in the area about Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty, contributing to building patriotism, love for the homeland's sea and islands, enhancing the responsibility of citizens in general, and the young generation of Co To Special Zone in particular, for the cause of building and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, contributing together with the Vietnam Coast Guard to protect national security, order, and safety at sea in the new situation.
