Vietnam U17 women's team had a smooth start. |
Entering the opening match, coach Okiyama Masahiko deployed a 4-4-2 formation, prioritizing speed and pressing ability in the front line. Facing an opponent Guam with superior physique but limited technique, the girls in red quickly dominated the game, organizing diverse attacks on both flanks.
It took more than 20 minutes for Guam's dense defense to be penetrated. In the 21st minute, striker Minh Anh opened the score with a decisive shot from a narrow angle. Not stopping there, the striker wearing the number 10 shirt continued to impress with a beautiful volley in the 41st minute, doubling the gap for the home team.
The second half saw a one-sided game as Vietnam U17 completely dominated. Yen Nhi scored to raise the score to 3-0 in the 54th minute, before Minh Anh completed her hat-trick with a close-range finish in the 72nd minute. In the 86th minute, Hong Thai closed the resounding 5-0 victory for the Vietnamese team.
The result not only helped coach Okiyama and his team have a smooth start but also created a big advantage in the race for tickets to the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship finals.
In the final round, the U17 women's team of Vietnam will meet the U17 women's team of Hong Kong (China) on October 17, also at Binh Duong Stadium. The generation of young players with great potential promises to have another day of sublime performance in this match.
