At the workshop, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), emphasized that the coordination mechanism to block and remove copyright-infringing content on cyberspace is a matter of survival for the radio and television industry. "Previously, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information together with the network operators established a rapid response team. Network operators and pay TV services that provided content about movies, football, etc. that violated copyright, the rapid response team handled it very well, even working from 1am to 5am. For the past seven months, after the reorganization and streamlining, there has been no such mechanism. Do we need to re-establish the rapid response team? Which unit will take the lead? Viettel Telecom's representative proposed to restore this team, the network operators must unanimously participate and proposed that the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information continue to take the lead. When there is a violation, the Department will issue a blocking order between the network operators, with a synchronous coordination mechanism," said Mr. Le Quang Tu Do.
The Vietnam Pay TV Association agreed to the proposal and continued to implement the process of preventing copyright infringement in cyberspace. At the same time, the Vietnam Pay TV Association said it would coordinate with the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information to report violations and propose that the Department send a report to the Department of Cyber Security - Ministry of Public Security to propose support in blocking infringing links.
Regarding the pay TV service market, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said that by the end of 2024, pay TV will reach 21.4 million subscribers, an increase of nearly 2% compared to 2023. Of which, OTT TV subscribers will reach 9.2 million subscribers, an increase of more than 24% compared to 2023. It is expected that by the end of 2025, revenue will reach about 10,300 billion VND, reaching 22.5 million subscribers, an increase of 2.8% compared to 2024.
