Vietnam officially has a center of excellence specializing in core technology research.

The VNPT - Qualcomm Center of Excellence will be where engineers create smart electronic devices, network devices and AI computing, contributing to affirming the ability to master core technology and bringing Make in Vietnam products to international level.

On October 14, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ) and Qualcomm Group officially launched the VNPT - Qualcomm Center of Excellence (VQEC).

Accordingly, VQEC is positioned as a regional research and innovation center, connecting businesses, research institutes, universities and technology startups.

VQEC will focus on developing smart electronic devices, network devices and AI computing devices, contributing to the vision of Vietnam mastering core technology.

This is considered the place to help VNPT realize its development strategy to 2030, vision 2035, focusing on three pillars: First, modern, safe and sustainable digital infrastructure, including 5G/6G network, cloud computing, data center and new generation connection platform.

Second, the ecosystem of digital products and services made in Vietnam, serving the digital government, digital economy and digital society. Third, core technologies owned by Vietnamese people, from artificial intelligence, IoT, edge computing to semiconductor technology.

At the launching ceremony of VQEC, VNPT General Director Huynh Quang Liem said that VQEC Center has a special significance in opening up a new space to develop 5G/6G digital infrastructure, cloud, data center, from which there will be products serving the Make in Vietnam ecosystem.

This is also the core of national innovation, connecting businesses - schools - research institutes - technology startups in the VQEC ecosystem.

The center will be a convergence of Vietnamese intelligence and global knowledge, where VNPT and Qualcomm engineers will jointly create smart electronic devices, network devices and AI computing, contributing to affirming the ability to master core technology and bringing Make in Vietnam products to the international level.

Previously, in August 2025, VNPT and Qualcomm signed a strategic cooperation agreement towards the establishment of the VNPT - Qualcomm Center of Excellence (VQEC). This is the first center in Vietnam capable of accessing and developing global core technology, playing an important role in enhancing Vietnam's position in the international digital technology value chain.
