Vietnam - Korea promote cooperation in anti-corruption

(CPV) - Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac emphasized that the signing and implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in anti-corruption between the Central Internal Affairs Commission and the Korean Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission affirms the strong commitment of both sides to further enhance the substance, comprehensiveness and effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries in anti-corruption work.

On May 23, at the Headquarters of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of Korea (ACRC) Jeong Seung-yoon, as Head of the delegation, met with Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negative Practices, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, Communist Party of Vietnam .

Also attending were comrade Vo Van Dung, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission and leaders of the Departments and units of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

At the meeting, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac expressed his pleasure to meet and wished ACRC Vice President Jeong Seung-yoon and the ACRC delegation a smooth and effective visit and work in Vietnam.

Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac affirmed that Vietnam and Korea have many similarities in history and culture. With the two countries upgrading their relationship to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”, the Vietnam-Korea relationship continues to develop well and is increasingly deepening and becoming more effective in all fields, and political trust is being strengthened. Vietnam highly appreciates Korea’s Indo- Pacific Strategy, which identifies Vietnam as a key partner. Vietnam also attaches great importance to its cooperative relationship with Korea, especially in economics, trade and investment, innovation, creativity, improving growth quality and national competitiveness. Korea is currently one of Vietnam’s leading trade and investment partners.

The Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission emphasized that the future of the Vietnam-Korea cooperation relationship depends largely on the dynamic, creative and effective cooperation of agencies, organizations and individuals of the two countries. The signing and implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Anti-Corruption between the Central Internal Affairs Commission and ACRC is the concretization and affirmation of the strong commitment of both sides to further enhance the substance, comprehensiveness and effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries in anti-corruption work.

Comrade Phan Dinh Trac said that, in the past time, basically, the two sides have made efforts to implement and achieved many important results for the contents of the commitments in the spirit of the Memorandum of Understanding. The good and effective experiences of Korea have been and are being studied and selected by the Central Internal Affairs Commission to propose appropriate application to Vietnam's reality; firmly believe that in the coming time, the relationship between the two agencies will have new, dynamic and effective developments, contributing to further promoting the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Speaking at the meeting, ACRC Vice President Jeong Seung-yoon, on behalf of the high-ranking delegation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of Korea, thanked the leaders of the Central Internal Affairs Commission for their solemn and warm welcome. The ACRC Vice President affirmed that Korea and Vietnam have similar historical backgrounds, so the people of the two countries are quite close and intimate. There are many Vietnamese people living and working in Korea; meanwhile, there are also many Koreans coming to invest and do business in Vietnam. They are the bridge and will also lay the foundation for the development of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

ACRC Vice President Jeong Seung-yoon emphasized that the two agencies ACRC and the Central Internal Affairs Commission officially established relations through a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in 2010, which has now entered its 15th year. During that time, the two sides have built mutual trust and believe that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to achieve more results in cooperation and experience exchange, contributing to effective anti-corruption, while contributing to consolidating and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

* On the same day, in Hanoi, comrade Vo Van Dung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission chaired a meeting with the delegation of the Korean Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission led by Vice President of ACRC Jeong Seung-yoon.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Vo Van Dung affirmed that the Central Internal Affairs Commission highly appreciated the determination of the ACRC and the Korean Government in preventing and combating corruption and negativity, to build Korea into a developed country with clear integrity, as well as to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Korean people.

The Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Internal Affairs Commission expressed his special impression with the working methods and achievements of the ACRC such as: Issuing the Law on Prohibiting Favoritism (2016), the Law on Preventing Conflicts of Interest (2022); Assessing corruption risks for laws and regulations issued by central authorities and public organizations; comprehensively improving the integrity assessment system; promptly and strictly handling many cases and acts of corruption...

Comrade Vo Van Dung suggested that the two sides should maintain the annual exchange of delegations between the two agencies; increase document exchanges, online meetings on new regulations and laws on preventing and combating corruption and negativity; good experiences and effective ways of preventing and combating corruption...

To continue to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides in anti-corruption work, contributing to further promoting the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the Central Committee for Internal Affairs of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of Korea agreed to extend the Memorandum of Understanding on Anti-Corruption Cooperation signed with ACRC for the next period (2024-2026).

The Central Committee for Internal Affairs hopes that the two sides will organize more specific, practical and effective cooperation activities, thereby contributing to continuing to develop the good friendship between the two countries in the coming time…/.
