Building a brand for the cashew capital of Vietnam

With over 180,000 hectares, Dong Nai has the largest cashew acreage in the country. The province is also among the top in the country in attracting businesses to produce, process and export cashew nuts.

In the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, cashew nuts are the province's key product with many producers being granted national 5-star OCOP certification. Many businesses investing in processing and exporting cashew nuts aspire to build a national brand for Vietnam's cashew capital in the international market.

Building a national brand for Dong Nai cashew nuts

Up to now, the whole province has 496 OCOP products. Of which, dozens of cashew products have been certified OCOP. Notably, most of the national 5-star OCOP products of Dong Nai province are products processed from cashew nuts. It is expected that in the coming time, Dong Nai province will continue to have more products processed from cashew nuts that have been certified with the national 5-star OCOP.

Specifically, recently, the Dong Nai OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council in 2025 has appraised and evaluated 15 more OCOP products. Of which, 11 are products processed from cashew nuts, with 6 potential 5-star OCOP products at the national level.

Dong Nai is stepping up trade promotion and advertising for the province’s OCOP products, including the key product cashew nuts. Many OCOP entities have strongly applied technology to production and focused on developing e-commerce to build brands for local key products.

The fact that many cashew products in the province have achieved the national 5-star OCOP certification has contributed to raising the brand of Dong Nai cashew nuts. This is also a testament to the province's cashew industry's continuous transformation from raw production to refined processing, from local products to national brands.

In the recent evaluation and classification of Dong Nai OCOP products, Gia Bao Group Joint Stock Company in Binh Phuoc Ward had 5 products and a set of cashew nut products with 5-star OCOP potential. This contributes to affirming that the company's products have been known to the domestic market. A representative of Gia Bao Group Joint Stock Company said: The company has just inaugurated and put into operation Ba Tu Binh Phuoc Agricultural and Food Processing Factory in Dong Tam Commune, with an investment capital of 6.5 million USD. This is a testament to the company's ability to master technology and self-manage production in the cashew industry. In the coming time, the factory will develop more deep-processed product lines, contributing to building the national brand of Dong Nai cashew industry in the international market.

Reaching out to the international market

The participation and OCOP certification of cashew processing and exporting enterprises in the province has affirmed that the local key products have participated well in the national value chain. In particular, each 5-star OCOP cashew product is a success story of local specialties participating well in the world market.

A representative of the Golden Cashew Nuts Company Limited (Phu Rieng Commune, Dong Nai Province) said: The company's cashew products have been exported to many demanding markets such as the United States, Japan, Australia, England, etc. The company has met the environmental hygiene standards of Vietnam as well as many countries in the world. Our aspiration is to build a cashew nut brand that not only competes well in the domestic market but also reaches the international level.

Ms. To Thi Nga, Director of Nga Bien Import-Export One Member Co., Ltd. (Xuan Hoa Commune, Dong Nai Province) shared: Recently, the company has focused on investing in improving the cashew nut processing line applying modern technology, automation according to a closed production process. Thanks to that, the company has reduced about 50% of labor costs, fast production progress but product quality is constantly improved. The company is focusing on diversifying deeply processed cashew nut products with the desire to introduce to domestic consumers processed cashew nut products that meet international quality standards. The company pays great attention to building brands for products in both domestic and export markets. In particular, many of the company's products have achieved the national 5-star OCOP certification, which is very meaningful in the goal of building a brand for Dong Nai cashew nut specialties.

Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang affirmed: The province's OCOP product development program is being implemented in line with the goal of focusing on developing local advantageous products, associated with deep processing of products to increase added value. Dong Nai is currently the province with the largest cashew growing area in the country. In the coming time, cashew nuts will continue to be the key product, Dong Nai province will focus on developing, maintaining its position as the cashew capital of the country, ranking first in the country in cashew nut exports.
