Thanh Ba commune was established on the basis of merging 4 administrative units including: Thanh Ba town, Van Linh, Dong Xuan and Hanh Cu communes. This is a land rich in tradition, with a natural area of ​​over 3,859 hectares, 49 residential areas, nearly 8,500 households with over 30,000 people. The establishment of the commune opens up many opportunities to effectively exploit resources in terms of land, population, infrastructure, while improving management capacity and organizing the implementation of socio-economic development tasks.

However, besides the potential, Thanh Ba is also facing many difficulties, especially the state of degraded infrastructure and natural disasters causing damage to many important works. This is a major obstacle to promoting advantages and realizing the development aspirations of the locality.

In Hanh Cu area 17, Cau Rau used to be a small bridge but played the role of "lifeline" for the people. Built about 25 years ago, the bridge over Cau Rau stream not only serves the needs of travel and farming but also plays a role in connecting the agricultural production system and irrigation for Dung and Nac fields - two key agricultural production areas of areas 14, 16, 17, 18.

However, after storm No. 10 in 2025, the bridge collapsed, the pillars broke, the bridge surface cracked, making travel and farming almost paralyzed. More than 50 households in areas 17 and 18 were directly affected, having to travel 7-8km to reach their fields.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhuan - Head of Zone 17 Hanh Cu shared: "Every year, people grow one rice crop, one fish crop, and plant corn and bananas along the banks. Since the bridge broke down, the detour is too far and difficult to travel, so many households have had to leave their fields fallow."

Nac field is a good, flat, fertile land but is currently abandoned.

Meanwhile, the Nac field, which is a good, flat land with favorable conditions for cultivation, has long been the main source of livelihood for people in areas 17 and 18. The bridge collapse not only affects production but also threatens traffic safety, especially during the rainy and stormy season. Local authorities and residential areas have placed warning signs on both sides of the bridge, prohibiting people from traveling through the collapsed bridge area to ensure safety.

However, this is only a temporary situation. The fields cannot be left to waste forever. The cost of building and repairing bridges is quite expensive, and the local government does not have enough conditions to arrange and allocate resources appropriately.

Local authorities and residential areas have placed warnings prohibiting people from crossing the bridge to ensure safety.

Not only Cau Rau area, many rural roads in Thanh Ba commune are also in a state of serious degradation. Among them, there are roads built in 2000, 2001 that have not been upgraded yet, the road surface is narrow, bumpy, making people's travel dangerous.

The road from Thanh Ba commune center (Dao Gia intersection) to Km30 is now seriously degraded.

In particular, the route from the commune center (Dao Gia intersection) to Km30 - the main route connecting Thanh Ba commune with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho highway is currently overloaded and degraded. This route plays a very important role in transporting goods, trade and developing the local economy , but the road surface is only about 3.5m wide, cars cannot avoid each other. It rained heavily, many sections were flooded up to the knee, making it very difficult to move, especially for students.

The road surface is narrow, bumpy, and prone to flooding during heavy rains, making it difficult for people to travel.

Ms. Tran Thi Tinh - Head of Zone 3, Thanh Ba town said: "People in our area are very miserable when going through this road. Previously, the road surface was only about 2.8m wide. Around 2010, when there was a policy of the State supporting cement, people in the area proactively contributed money, materials, and labor days to widen the road surface to 3.5m. However, due to the long construction period, combined with this being a vital road, many vehicles frequently travel, leading to serious deterioration of the road... We always hope that this road will be invested in and upgraded to make traveling safer and more convenient."

People expect the road to be upgraded and expanded to make travel more convenient.

Investing in upgrading and expanding the main road from the commune center to Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho highway is the biggest wish of Thanh Ba people at present. When the road is completed, it will not only shorten travel time and reduce freight costs, but also contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.

People expressed their willingness to donate land, remove trees, and contribute labor to widen the road. This is a favorable basis for local authorities to mobilize resources and speed up infrastructure investment progress.

Comrade Khuat Nang Thang - Vice Chairman of Thanh Ba Commune People's Committee said: Before implementing the two-level local government model, Thanh Ba district had 5 industrial clusters and 1 industrial park. However, after abolishing the district level and merging communes, Thanh Ba commune currently has no industrial parks or clusters. To create development momentum, the locality plans to plan Van Linh Industrial Cluster - an area with a favorable traffic location, near the highway, with abundant land and labor resources. To realize this plan, investing in traffic infrastructure connecting Van Linh with the commune center is a prerequisite, helping to attract businesses to invest, create jobs, and increase income for people.

Thanh Ba is a land with great potential for economic development, with a large area, large population, convenient traffic connections, and located near an important highway. However, in order for those potentials to be truly effective, the locality really hopes that all levels and sectors will pay attention to investing in the synchronous development of traffic and irrigation infrastructure systems - the fundamental conditions for development. Clearing infrastructure bottlenecks is the key for Thanh Ba to turn potential into driving force, to rise strongly in the development journey of a new administrative unit.
