Many good signals for agricultural, forestry and fishery products reaching export targets

Vietnam’s agriculture is entering the final stage with the goal of reaching the 65 billion USD export mark this year. After a long period of focusing on standardizing growing areas, improving processing quality and diversifying markets, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports are showing many positive signs.

From fruits, seafood to wooden products and forestry products, businesses have strongly shifted from raw exports to branded exports, focusing on added value and sustainability in the production chain.

At this time, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports continue to increase strongly, with many key products such as durian, dragon fruit, grapefruit, and banana maintaining a stable growth momentum. Durian in particular is asserting its position as a billion-dollar commodity, thanks to good quality control, clear traceability, and market expansion to many new countries.

Mr. Vo Tan Loi - Director of Phuong Ngoc Import Export Company shared: "We tested the durian sample and found it met the requirements, so we ripened it, separated the segments, and froze and exported it. I think this solution will bring a bright market for Vietnamese durian to export to China."

To take advantage of the opportunity, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment recommends that businesses, cooperatives and localities organize production according to sustainable chains, apply VietGAP, GlobalGAP, keep full production logs and transparent traceability. At the same time, it is necessary to invest heavily in irradiation technology, pre-processing, cold storage and modern preservation to meet the increasing demands of the import market.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tung - General Director of Vina T&T said: "We have completed the procedures such as packaging factory code, growing area code and can export immediately. This is a very optimistic signal for the fourth quarter of 2025".

Mr. Hoang Trung - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment commented: "Our farmers have produced systematically, have a good understanding of regulations related to the processes of Australia, New Zealand, the US and some other regulations of different countries. Thus, people have met the requirements, businesses have taken advantage of their customers".

Quickly adapting to market demands, Vietnamese businesses are investing heavily in technology, cold storage, logistics and deep processing. With many positive signals, it is expected that in the remaining three months of 2025, agricultural exports could reach 67 billion USD. In more favorable circumstances, the figure could reach more than 70 billion USD.

Support trade promotion for agricultural exports

For a sustainable transition to deep processing, the role of trade promotion and supply chain connection becomes particularly important. In Ho Chi Minh City, which has both raw material areas and is also a market center, many activities to support export enterprises are being strongly implemented, creating new momentum for Vietnamese agricultural products to go further.

As a company with available raw material areas, this unit took advantage of the post-merger trade promotion connection to assess consumer tastes and trends. This is the basis for shortening the distance between production areas and distribution channels - an unprecedented advantage to standardize the supply chain, thereby exporting to many new markets.

Ms. Lam Hoa Hong - Director of External Relations, Bau May Company shared: "Customers just think it is a normal spice so they really do not care much. But when they experience and try it, they are interested and find ways to bring it into the distribution system."

The advantage is that a complete production chain has been formed, meeting international standards. To take advantage of this strength, trade promotion helps shape a new ecosystem: wood - furniture combined with construction materials, which is also the basis to help the industry develop sustainably when the market is volatile.

Mr. Vo Quang Ha - Chairman of Tavico Joint Stock Company commented: "We not only distribute raw materials but also distribute wood for construction, especially flooring and wooden houses".

Mr. Phung Quoc Man - Chairman of the Handicraft and Wood Processing Association of Ho Chi Minh City commented: "From interior issues to many other needs for consumer materials, sanitary equipment, bricks, stones... of high quality are selected. When investors come here, they can find opportunities in a complete way."

Ho Chi Minh City has recently been supplemented with much larger production and export capacity than before. This is also a city with both raw material areas and markets, so the promotion sessions help complete the export supply chain, contributing to creating a solid strength in export, especially the green chain.
