10 training helicopters fly to raise the Party flag and the national flag in the sky of Bien Hoa

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of April 9, 10 helicopters of the Air Defense - Air Force practiced flying the Party flag and the national flag, ready to perform in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

On April 9 at Bien Hoa airport ( Dong Nai province), the Air Defense - Air Force continued to deploy training flights to prepare for a performance in the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Aircraft formations are refueled, plugged in, and prepared technically... early to ensure training goes according to plan.

Notably this morning, 10 Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters of Air Force Regiments 917, 916, and 930 were prepared with Party and national flags to practice flying and raising the flag.

10 helicopters took off to practice raising the flag this morning, divided into 3 groups: 3 in the front, 4 in the middle, and 3 at the back.

The formation of 3 planes flew in front in an arrow shape, 4 planes behind in a diamond shape, and 3 planes at the back in an arrow shape.

In each formation, the helicopter flying in the lead flies the Party flag, the helicopters flying behind fly the national flag.

The Party flag and the national flag have the same size, about 20 square meters, 5.4 meters long and 3.6 meters wide.

The helicopter squadron flew many rounds with the flag raised over Bien Hoa City and the Dong Nai River.

The 8m long cable will be fixed to the helicopter's external hook along with a 120kg counterweight to ensure the flag rope is tight and straight, keeping the flag flying beautifully when the helicopter flies at a speed of 80-120km/h.

After many training flights at the airport like on the official performance day, the helicopters landed, completing their training flight mission this morning.

This flag-raising practice flight also aims to evaluate flying techniques, coordination between air force units and flight crews, and test flag-raising equipment and weights...

Two squadrons of Yak-130 multi-role training aircraft of Air Force Regiment 940 (Air Force Officer School) also participated in training flights this morning.

• It is expected that on April 11 at Bien Hoa airport, a joint parade of ground and air forces will take place following the same scenario as the official celebration on April 30.
