Egypt wins ticket to World Cup 2026

Egypt became the latest team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after defeating Djibouti 3-0 in the 9th match of Group A of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Africa.

Ibrahim Adel (8th minute) and Mohamed Salah (14th and 84th minutes) were the scorers who brought victory to Egypt.

With 3 points against Djibouti, Egypt has 23 points, 5 points more than the 2nd ranked team Burkina Faso while the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Africa only have 1 more match to end.

This is the fourth time in history that Egypt has qualified for the World Cup. In the tournament four years ago, Mohamed Salah and his teammates failed to qualify.

Egypt are the third African team (after Morocco and Tunisia) and the 19th to qualify for North America next summer.

FIFA is expected to hold the draw for the 2026 World Cup in the US on December 5. At that time, the 2026 World Cup will determine about 42/48 participating teams.
