Applying many new economic models and good practices associated with national defense in the Central coastal region

On October 23, Major General Nguyen Quoc Huong, Deputy Commander of Military Region 5, and the working delegation had an inspection and working session with Economic - Defense Group 516 (Group 516) on effectively implementing tasks in the Economic - Defense Zone of the Central Coast.

Through the assessment at the inspection session, Major General Nguyen Quoc Huong acknowledged the spirit of solidarity and efforts of Group 516 in carrying out the assigned tasks. To effectively carry out the goals set out in the coming time, the leaders and commanders of Group 516 need to continue to innovate working methods and styles; research and apply many new models, good, creative and effective ways of doing things; comprehensively deploy tasks; pay attention to taking care of the material and spiritual lives of officers, employees and soldiers. Officers and employees need to correctly perceive the Party's defense and military policies and guidelines, maintain solidarity, strictly comply with the law and discipline, and ensure safety in all activities.

Group 516 has the task of building a national defense posture associated with socio -economic development in particularly difficult areas, coastal areas and outpost islands in the central coastal provinces and cities such as Quang Ngai, Gia Lai and Da Nang. In the past time, the Party Committee and the Group's commanders have led and directed the unit to successfully complete military and defense tasks, Party building work and effectively deploy the tasks of the Coastal Economic - Defense Zone; strictly manage defense land, prevent disputes and encroachment; organize port service activities in accordance with the law; ensure absolute safety, with no violations of law or discipline.

Unit 516 has closely coordinated with the People's Committee and the fishing union of Tam Quang commune (formerly Quang Nam province) to distribute more than 3,000 leaflets to propagate laws to fishermen on environmental protection, sovereignty over seas and islands, and combat illegal fishing (IUU). The unit has given life jackets, national flags, first aid kits, binoculars, batteries, generators, and organized the repair of 43 boats, supporting 336 days of accommodation for fishermen, helping fishermen feel secure in going out to sea, contributing to protecting the sovereignty of the seas and islands of the Fatherland.

The unit has implemented a model of growing about 10 hectares of purple onions using new farming methods, using biological products in Ly Son Special Zone (Quang Ngai province), helping 200 households improve their lives, with an average income of nearly 20 million VND per household and crop. In 2025 alone, the unit will implement two models of raising commercial chickens and breeding cows, supporting 72 households, including 25 poor households, 41 near-poor households, and 6 newly escaped-poverty households in Nui Thanh commune (Da Nang city) with a total cost of more than 3.5 billion VND; supporting the construction of barns; coordinating the organization of the "Zero-VND stall" program to help people in difficulty; building a team house, a gratitude house and eliminating temporary, dilapidated houses for a policy family.

The organizing unit visited and gave gifts to policy beneficiaries on holidays and Tet and implemented the program "Helping children go to school" with a total budget of more than 450 million VND to support students in difficult circumstances in Nui Thanh and Tam Hai communes, Da Nang city...
