International press admires Vietnam's world championship of Sepak Takraw

(Dan Tri) - The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team won the women's 4-a-side event at the World Championship for the King's Cup. This title made the media everywhere admire.

The Vietnamese sepak takraw team won the championship in the above event by defeating the representative of the world's number one sepak takraw powerhouse Thailand, right on Thai soil on July 27.

A day after our girls defeated Thailand's 4-person sepak takraw women's team, yesterday (July 28), Siam Sport newspaper of the Golden Temple country wrote: "Thai sepak takraw needs to pay attention to the 4-person event, because many countries have been able to defeat Thailand in this event."

“At the recent World Championships held at the Hat Yai Shopping Center Arena (Songkhla, Thailand), host Thailand won 5/7 Gold Medals. There were two categories that Thailand could not win: the 4-person women's category and the 4-person men's category,” Siam Sport added.

Thailand's leading sports daily pointed out that the opponent who defeated the home team members in the above events was the Vietnamese sepak takraw team.

Siam Sport shared: “In the men's 4-a-side event, the Thai team was surprisingly defeated by the Vietnamese team in the semi-finals with a score of 0-2. Thailand only won a third-place position.”

“In the women’s 4-person event, the Thai team once again lost to their traditional rival, the Vietnamese team, in the final match, with a score of 1-2. This is the second time the Thai women’s team lost to the Vietnamese women’s team in the event this year.

Meanwhile, the home page of this year's world championship shared the emotions after the Vietnamese women's team won the title: "The Vietnamese team defeated the Thai team in the 4-person women's event."

“The Vietnamese girls returned to the world championship. This time, the Vietnamese women's team was successful right at the stadium in Hat Yai, Songkhla province, Thailand. Congratulations to the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team,” the tournament's homepage added.

The fact that the Vietnamese team defeated Thailand in both the men's 4-a-side and women's 4-a-side categories was also highly appreciated by the Malaysian press. Many Malaysian newspapers such as Bernama and Astro admired our achievements, especially in the context that the Malaysian team could not go all the way to the end of the surprise.

Malaysia's Bernama news agency commented: "The dream of Malaysia's sepak takraw world championship has yet to come true, as Malaysia lost to arch-rival Thailand in the final of the men's team event with a score of 0-2."

That shows that Malaysia is sorry that their team could not do the same thing that the Vietnamese sepak takraw team just did, which is to defeat Thailand.
