The songwriting contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong’s liberation has brought a “new breeze” to the music of the Port City. After three months of launching, the Organizing Committee has received 128 works from professional and amateur musicians inside and outside the city, reflecting the deep love for the beauty of Hai Phong land and people, praising the great achievements in the cause of innovation, construction and development of the homeland.

The jury selected 9 outstanding songs to present awards at the Gala night on October 13, including 5 authors from neighboring provinces and cities: "Glorious and Shining Hai Phong" by Huynh Tan Phat (Dak Lak), "Hai Phong Forward" by Nguyen Thi Chinh ( Hanoi ), "My Hai Phong" by Nguyen Van Dat (Hung Yen), "Remembering the Royal Poinciana City" by Le Hai Dang (Ho Chi Minh City), "Hai Phong - Rising Waves" by Nguyen Dinh Nghi (Lam Dong).

There are 4 authors in Hai Phong including: "Returning to Hai Phong" by Nguyen Duy Tan - Le Van Hung, "Hai Phong Waves" by Vu Manh Cuong - Tran Nhat Minh, "Hai Phong - Continuing the heroic epic" by Nguyen Duc Hoai and "70 years of Hai Phong Liberation" by Nguyen Duy Thai.

The works demonstrate a variety of compositional styles, from deep lyrical songs to youthful, vibrant music, reflecting the breath of a rapidly changing industrial city.

Among them, the song “Hai Phong glory and shine” by musician Huynh Tan Phat impressed with its heroic melody and lyrics affirming the position of the Port City - the industrial, service and major seaport center of the country. “Hai Phong is already familiar, now after merging with Hai Duong, the feelings have doubled. It is from that closeness that I wrote this song with all my sincere feelings, hoping that the city will continue to fly up and fly high”, the author shared.

Musician Nguyen Duy Thai brought the song “70 years of Hai Phong liberation”, recreating a glorious historical journey and arousing the pride of many generations of city residents. Over the years, Hai Phong has regularly organized songwriting competitions about the city, becoming a prestigious playground, a gathering place for many generations of musicians from within and outside the locality.

According to musician Duy Thai, Chairman of the Hai Phong Music Association, this policy of encouraging composition "brings a new atmosphere and spirit to professionals; through friction and screening, it creates excitement and passion for composition."

Musician Quang Vinh, Chairman of the Hanoi Music Association and Chairman of the Jury, commented: “The trend of rejuvenation has become clearer. That is a positive sign, especially for a city with a strong identity like Hai Phong.” He also noted the application of technology in composition: AI can support but cannot replace human emotions. This competition affirms the viewpoint of promoting real creativity, valuing artistic values ​​and local identity.

Launched from June to August 31, 2025, the contest received 128 works from professional and amateur musicians and authors nationwide, expressing their deep love for the resilient Port City. The contest is a cultural activity with profound political and spiritual significance, contributing to promoting the revolutionary tradition, history and culture of Hai Phong; at the same time, enriching the city's musical treasure, promoting the image of "Hai Phong - City of Music" as a dynamic and integrated city.
