Singer Quang Le and Thanh Thanh Hien were shocked by the news of artist Pham Duc Thanh's death.

The family announced that the artist Pham Duc Thanh suddenly passed away at 5:41 am on August 22 at his home, at the age of 69. The family is taking his coffin back to his hometown Ninh Binh to hold a funeral, then cremate him.

Not long ago, he had a heart attack and was discharged from the hospital a few days ago after treatment. Because they believed he was fine, the bad news shocked many artists.

Singer Quang Le shared: "Uncle Thanh, how fast and unexpected! I still can't believe you've left. Your monochord has supported my singing countless times, going straight into the hearts of the audience. I am extremely sorry and grateful to you, an uncle, a talented musician who has left behind immortal echoes."

Quang Le and artist Pham Duc Thanh are close friends both at work and in daily life. He participated in the male singer's live shows in 2016, 2017 and 2018, not to mention music nights, recordings and MVs.

Singer Ho Quang 8 commented that Pham Duc Thanh is a famous monochord artist at home and abroad.

"An artist whose playing brings back so many dear images of his homeland and family. His playing also gives wings to so many voices and songs to fly further," he wrote.

The singer boasted that 3 months ago he was praised by a senior for "being successful with his own path and singing style, truly folk, truly new and rare in today's market". For Ho Quang 8, that was a very valuable assessment, making him happy and joyful.

He expressed his condolences: "It was so sudden to hear that you passed away when your career and your playing were still supple, skillful and full of vitality."

Zither artist Duy Pham said he was inspired by artist Pham Duc Thanh to pursue traditional musical instruments since he was 10 years old.

"I was very impressed with him with his shoulder-length hair, often wearing ao dai and playing on stage with the singers. Later I learned his name was Pham Duc Thanh. I still clearly remember his solo monochord in the song Chieu qua phe Hau Giang , the Nguyet lute in the song Chuyen lam dau ... Those smooth melodies fascinated me and I wished that one day I could sit on stage and play the instrument like that," he recalled.

Duy Pham commented that Pham Duc Thanh's playing "is not flashy or ostentatious in technique, but simple, moderate, in tune, and very soulful, conveying emotions to the listener - something not many people can do."

In 2017, he had the opportunity to record with him in an HTV program, considering it "a childhood dream come true".
