The tournament has a total of 10 teams, divided into 3 groups: Group A and B each have 3 teams, Group C has 4 teams. The seed groups are divided based on performance and hosting factors, including Thailand (host, code A1), Indonesia, Vietnam (group 1); Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia (group 2); Timor-Leste, Philippines, Laos (group 3); Singapore (group 4).

Looking ahead to the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Football Federation has proactively built a thorough preparation plan over the past several months. The Vietnam U22 team - the core force participating in the SEA Games - has regularly gathered in sync with the national team during FIFA Days, and has competed in international tournaments such as the U22 CFA Team China 2024 and 2025.

During FIFA Days in October 2025, the team trained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and played a friendly match with U23 Qatar. Next November, U22 Vietnam will continue to participate in an international tournament in China - an important milestone to test the force before the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.

In the women's football category, the Vietnamese team will gather again on October 21, then go to Japan for training and international friendly matches. The men's and women's futsal teams will also officially gather at the end of October, aiming to complete their tasks at the 33rd SEA Games.
