Young people use AI to build a relief connection platform

In the era of strong technological development, many young people not only take advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) for study or work but also turn it into a tool to spread the spirit of compassion in the community during difficult times.

The relief platform cuutro.vucar.vn of a group of young people in Ho Chi Minh City has become a place to connect volunteers to help groups deliver the right amount of goods to places that are really in need.

A place where hearts connect

Amidst countless distress calls and images of storms and floods on social networks, Ky Anh (born in 2000), like many other young people, felt the urge to do something.

From that initial idea, Phung Huy (born in 1999) proposed building a relief connection platform, where volunteer groups can post their journeys and gathering points; and people and donors can easily follow and join hands to support. "We think that if there are many people like us who want to help but don't know where to start, creating an intermediary platform is necessary," Phung Huy shared.

What is admirable about these young people is that the entire process from the idea to the completion of this platform took place in just one night. The biggest difficulty at that time was the pressure of time. “We made this website in just one night, at first we were really afraid of not being able to make it in time, because when people were experiencing storms and floods, we had to be as quick as possible,” Ky Anh shared.

To be able to "race" to implement this idea in the face of urgent storm and flood situations, the group of young people took advantage of technological strengths, using artificial intelligence (AI) to support coding, accounting for 80% of the workload.

In the condition of not being able to meet to exchange regularly, they chose to work completely online. However, they still coordinated smoothly to create a timely and meaningful product, Phung Huy shared.

The biggest challenge is not building the website, but operating and verifying information. “The relief teams post information scattered across many groups, usually in the comment section. We have to manually compile and join many groups to get the information,” Ky Anh recounted.

To ensure that each data posted is true, the team directly calls and texts each relief team to verify. Although it is difficult and time-consuming, it is a key factor in helping them build trust and ensure that resources are delivered to the right place and the right people.

Youthful spirit of action

Since its launch, the group's cuutro.vucar.vn platform has quickly received support from the community. Many volunteer groups have had addresses and contact numbers to carry out relief and volunteer activities more conveniently than before.

Through this platform, volunteer teams can easily share their journeys and call for support. Some artists and media channels also help spread the platform, so that more people know and participate in the rescue.

Ms. Tran Thu Ha, manager of a volunteer group in Hanoi, shared: "After posting information on this application, we have connected with many more hearts to join hands and participate with the group. At the same time, in areas needing relief, people also sent pictures at the scene so that the group can choose the places that really need support."

“The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone is joining hands to support the affected areas, which makes us very happy,” said Phung Huy.

This is a clear demonstration of the spirit of compassion and creative adaptability of young people in the digital age. When they could not go directly to the flooded areas, they used their own knowledge and skills to contribute to supporting the people.

Ky Anh affirmed: “The strength of young people lies in their spirit of action. They don't just talk but get to work right away, turning ideas into useful products for the community."

"For the members, this is an unforgettable experience. We hope that this small effort will be useful for society. We use our youth and access to technology to do things that are useful for the country and the people, and that makes us feel happy," Phung Huy confided.

Regarding the long-term plan, the project representative said: The project will not stop after this natural disaster.

The team will continue to perfect this platform to maintain and develop the website to be ready to activate in other emergency situations, with the desire to turn it into an effective and long-term disaster information channel.

Providing relief and sharing with people in areas affected by natural disasters and floods is one of the activities that the government and people of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general jointly carry out to promptly encourage and help people overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

The tradition of “helping each other” has been promoted for many years with many touching stories of solidarity. In recent days, the city’s people have directly donated food, goods, and cash worth hundreds of billions of VND to the needy.

That is also the spirit of a pioneering city, always with the whole country, for the whole country of the city of love, the city named after Uncle Ho.
