Provinces from Nghe An to Khanh Hoa urgently respond to tropical depression near the East Sea

On the afternoon of October 23, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense issued Document No. 20/BCĐ-BNNMT to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Nghe An to Khanh Hoa on proactively responding to the tropical depression near the East Sea.

According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 a.m. on October 23, the center of the tropical depression was at about 20.4 degrees North latitude; 121.4 degrees East longitude; forecasted in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in the South-Southwest direction at a speed of 20km/h. Due to the influence of the tropical depression combined with the strengthening cold air, the eastern sea of ​​the North East Sea will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, gusting to level 9, waves 3-5m high; rough seas.

To proactively respond to the tropical depression near the East Sea, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense requested the above provinces and cities to closely monitor the warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of the tropical depression; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.

Provinces and cities are ready with forces and means to deploy rescue work when there is a situation, and at the same time organize serious on-duty shifts and regularly report to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee (through the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ).

In addition, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that from about 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 23, the provinces and cities from Ha Tinh to Da Nang will continue to have rain. There is a risk of flash floods and landslides in the above areas.

Specifically, the accumulated rainfall is common in Ha Tinh , Quang Tri, Hue city from 20-50mm, some places over 90mm; Da Nang city from 10-30mm, some places over 70mm. Warning of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes in many communes/wards: Huong Khe, Ky Anh; Cam Lac, Huong Xuan, Ky Khang, Ky Thuong, Ky Van, Ky Xuan, Hoanh Son, Vung Ang; Cam Hung, Cam Trung, Ky Hoa, Ky Lac, Hai Ninh, Song Tri (Ha Tinh province); Kim Ngan, Ta Rut, Truong Son; Ba Long, Ben Quan, Con Tien, Dakrong, Hai Lang, Le Ninh, Nam Trach, Quang Tri, Phu Trach, Quang Ninh, Trieu Phong, Truong Ninh, Truong Phu; Ai Tu, Bac Trach, Bo Trach, Cam Lo, Dong Trach, Hieu Giang, Hoan Lao, Huong Hiep, Dong Son (Quang Tri province); Chan May - Lang Co, Phu Loc; Khe Tre, Loc An, Kim Long, Kim Tra, Phong Dien, Phong Thai; A Luoi 1, A Luoi 4, A Luoi 5, Binh Dien, Hung Loc, Nam Dong, Huong An, Huong Tra, Phu Bai, Vinh Loc (Hue city); Hai Van; Ba Na, Hoa Khanh, Lien Chieu; Son Tra (Da Nang city).

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or level 1 flow.

Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

The hydrometeorological agency recommends that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to have prevention and response measures.
