The principal in Quang Ninh was dismissed for directing the change of scores from poor to good.

On October 23, the People's Committee of Ha Lam Ward informed the results of the inspection and handling of related officials who reflected and recommended a number of violations at Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School, including the content of correcting scores leading to changes in the assessment and classification of students' academic performance at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

According to the People's Committee of Ha Lam ward, the local government established an inspection team to verify the content of the petition, and carry out the review and disciplinary procedures for violating officials, civil servants, and public employees according to regulations.

Specifically, the locality has disciplined 9 officials, civil servants and public employees. Among them, Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Lan, Principal of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School, was dismissed from her position. In addition, 5 cases were warned and 3 others were reprimanded.

Previously, social networks spread information that the Principal of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School (Ha Lam Ward, Quang Ninh) was accused of directing the correction of semester exam scores on the electronic transcript system for a female student who was said to be the daughter of a Ha Lam Ward official. This caused her academic results to "suddenly" increase from poor to excellent.

Parents provided authorities with images of text messages allegedly directed by school leaders, asking teachers to correct scores in many subjects such as Math, Natural Sciences , Information Technology and English.

Notably, in the semester exam for IT and English, the original score was 4 but was changed to 8 on the system, equivalent to excellent level.

Initial inspection results of the People's Committee of Ha Lam Ward showed that there were shortcomings and violations by a number of officials of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School; the violations occurred in the 2024-2025 school year.

The leader of Ha Lam Ward People's Committee said that on the afternoon of October 15, the Ward People's Committee held a conference to announce the decision to rearrange schools and decide on the work of school staff in the ward, but the official effect is from November 1.

Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School merged with Cao Thang Secondary School, the secondary level of Ha Trung Primary and Secondary School to form a new school still named Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School.
