From the stone path leading to the Mausoleum of the Mother Goddess at Dong Cuong Temple, there is a guava tree with a curving shape like a dragon, green all year round, with flowers and fruits on its branches, giving off a fragrant scent.

The guava tree was donated by Ms. Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung's family (residing in Residential Group 10 - Mau A Town, Van Yen District) to be planted and regularly cared for.

At first, this guava tree had a quite normal shape and nothing unusual. However, over time, the guava tree gradually developed into a natural dragon shape without any intervention.

In particular, in the past 2 years, the guava tree has had a strange phenomenon of "knowing how to smile" and attracted the attention of many tourists.

According to the Dong Cuong Temple Management Board, the phenomenon is called "laughing" but in fact the tree does not make any sound but only "reacts" to human touch.

When there is no wind, the tree is as still as a sheet of paper. Visitors can choose the “armpit” part of the tree (the branches are considered the armpits of the tree) and scratch it gently, then they will start to see the phenomenon of guava leaves shaking as if laughing. If they scratch the wrong “armpit” of the tree, the leaves will shake more gently.

The special thing is that although the leaves shake, the branches do not shake, even the weakest ones. When you hold the tree trunk, close your eyes, and think without thinking, you will have an indescribable feeling of lightness and comfort.

This strange phenomenon has no scientific basis to prove. However, the laughing guava tree attracts the attention and curiosity of many tourists when they come to worship at the Dong Cuong Mother Temple.
