According to the 2023-2024 school year plan, Hung Loi Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities has 692 students in 16 classes, of which 287 are semi-boarders, living and eating at the school. Despite difficulties in facilities, with a sense of responsibility and dedication to the profession and students, the school's staff and teachers have overcome difficulties and always performed their assigned tasks well to ensure their studies as well as take care of their daily lives.

Teacher Doan Cuong Trang, Principal of Hung Loi Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, said: Right from the beginning of the school year, the school has implemented boarding activities in accordance with regulations. Currently, the school has a boarding system including 1 dining hall, kitchen and 28 boarding rooms that meet the requirements. Boarding students have their own timetables, ensuring their studies, meals, accommodation, living and participation in physical activities. This school year, the school has had no cases of students absent from school.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Lung Cu Boarding Secondary School has 469 students in 12 classes. Along with improving the quality of teaching and learning, from the beginning of the school year, the school has developed a detailed plan, established a Student Policy Review Council, and organized meals and accommodation for students at school.

At the same time, choose reliable food suppliers with clear origins; comply with food hygiene and safety measures, ensure nutritious, clean and safe meals, regularly change the menu, help children have good health and feel secure in studying. In addition, the school's Board of Directors also develops a specific boarding management plan: assign boarding teachers, organize evening classes, instruct children in life skills, personal hygiene, self-service, etc.

Teacher Pham Van Tuan, the school’s principal, said: After the school organized meals for boarding students, many students considered the school’s boarding house as their second home. Therefore, the school also pays special attention to the quality of meals to ensure that students have good physical condition to serve their studies.

The recent storm No. 10 has seriously affected a number of localities in the province, in which many boarding schools suffered heavy damage. After the storm, Lao Chai Primary and Secondary Boarding High School had its entire system of rooms, kitchens, and restrooms for 507 boarding students of 2 levels collapsed. This requires timely intervention and support from local authorities. "Currently, the school is receiving support from local authorities and Party committees to temporarily repair the damage, such as: arranging and rearranging boarding meals for students to move to other safe areas; students' meals are still being deployed to ensure nutrition and quality.

However, currently, the biggest difficulty in the school's boarding work is arranging food, cooking, accommodation and toilets for the students. At present, the school can only arrange 2 dormitories and 10 single rooms for over 500 students, the toilet area is completely eroded, causing difficulties in daily life for the students, especially the girls.

Currently, the school is looking forward to the cooperation and contribution of the whole community to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize boarding activities, so that students can study more peacefully" - Teacher Nguyen Quang Thanh, Principal of the school shared.

Caring for boarding students is a task of profound humanitarian significance, creating conditions for children in disadvantaged areas to study and develop comprehensively. Although there are many difficulties, but with the determination of schools, the education sector, the companionship of the Party Committee, the government and the whole society in caring for boarding students, we believe that the quality of education in disadvantaged areas of the province will be increasingly improved and enhanced.
