Tran Tuan Anh is studying in class 12A1, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province. Tuan Anh's hometown is in the mountainous district of Huong Son.

Because they wanted their son to have the best learning environment, Tuan Anh's parents moved to Duc Tho. Thanks to that, Tuan Anh was able to take the entrance exam to Nguyen Thi Minh Khai school, a school in a poor district but with top academic achievements in Ha Tinh province.

At the age of 7, Tuan Anh was introduced to computers by his parents. He learned programming on the internet by himself. In grade 5, Tuan Anh won the prize for excellent young IT student. However, when he entered secondary school, Tuan Anh focused on learning English. At the end of grade 9, he took the IELTS exam and achieved an 8.0.

With his outstanding foreign language skills, when he entered grade 10, Tuan Anh was trained in this subject by teachers at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School. He was sent to compete in the provincial English competition and won third prize. However, the teachers themselves realized that he had even more special qualities in another subject, which was information technology.

"I myself see English as just a tool, so I want to develop my other strengths," Tuan Anh shared.

Switching to the IT team was the right decision for Tuan Anh. Tuan Anh said, the moment when he solved a difficult problem "was extremely joyful and exciting, like the feeling of winning a game, it made me very happy".

Sharing about his study method, Tuan Anh said he does not set a fixed schedule, studies flexibly and always spends enough time for entertainment and doing things he loves.

Some days I study for 12 hours, some days 2-3 hours, some days I don't study at all, let my mind completely rest by watching comedy clips online or playing games with friends.

Whenever he encounters a problem he cannot solve, Tuan Anh also stops to go cycling. While cycling, Tuan Anh continues to think about the problem he has not found a solution to. "At that time, the body is exercising, training muscles and endurance, while the brain is still doing the work it likes," Tuan Anh explains about his habit.

In grade 11, Tuan Anh won first prize in the provincial competition for excellent students in information technology. In grade 12, Tuan Anh won second prize in the national competition for excellent students, entered the second round of the selection for the international and Asian Olympic teams, becoming one of two Ha Tinh students to be on the teams. The other is Tran Minh Hoang, a student at Ha Tinh Specialized High School, a member of the Mathematical Olympic team.

What's more special is that Tuan Anh is the only student who doesn't study at a specialized school out of all 37 students on the team.

Tuan Anh's next goal is to conquer the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad and enter the top 6 students competing in the International Informatics Olympiad.

"In this round, the biggest challenge for me and my teammates is to win a position in the top 6. Everyone is very talented and diligent, so instead of trying to surpass them, I try to review and practice to improve my own abilities," Tuan Anh said.

Mr. Phan Huu Quyen - Vice Principal of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School - said that Tuan Anh not only has excellent academic achievements but is also very active and proactive in team activities. Currently, Tuan Anh is the class monitor of class 12A1, participating in many extracurricular clubs at school as a leader.

Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School was established in 1972 in Duc Tho town, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province. For many years, the school's excellent student performance was second only to Ha Tinh Specialized High School. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school won 18 first prizes in the provincial excellent student competition alone.

"Duc Tho is a poor countryside. Here, people still say that they only have two jobs: farming and raising children. The achievements that Nguyen Thi Minh Khai school has are thanks to a team of capable and dedicated teachers who devote themselves to teaching their students.

In our school, any teacher assigned to train excellent students must make material sacrifices, but they are always ready and consider it their honor.

As a non-specialized public high school, the school values ​​talent discovery, finds solutions, and is not afraid to make changes to nurture students and help them develop their full potential.
