Why did Hai Duong's industrial production index decrease in January?

According to the Provincial Statistics Office, Hai Duong 's industrial production index in January 2025 decreased by 10.6% compared to the previous month and decreased by 1.2% compared to the same period last year. The reason is that the actual production days of enterprises decreased by more than 20% of the number of working days because they coincided with the Lunar New Year holiday (decreased by 6/27 days).

Compared to the previous month, the output of most industries decreased by more than 10%. In particular, the water exploitation, treatment and supply industry increased by 2.7% and the electricity production and distribution industry decreased slightly by 0.1%, because the Tet holiday did not affect the supply and distribution of electricity and water; at the same time, the demand for electricity and water for daily life of people during the Tet holiday increased.

Compared to the same period last year, most manufacturing industries had a decrease in output due to the impact of the Tet holiday. Some industries with large proportions, greatly affecting the general index of the whole industry such as electricity production and distribution decreased by 8%, causing the general index of the whole industry to decrease by 0.7 percentage points, of which electricity production decreased by 8.1%. The motor vehicle manufacturing industry decreased by 3.2%, causing the general index to decrease by 0.8 points. The electronic products manufacturing industry decreased by 2.2%, causing the general index to decrease by 0.5 points...

However, there are also some industries that, due to the low base level in 2024, the index in January 2025 still increased compared to the same period, such as the manufacturing industry.
Coke, metals, electrical equipment, machinery, equipment... These industries contributed to the general index increasing by 2.4 percentage points.
