Fold the newspaper, open a new journey

This morning, in many agencies and units, the last printed copies of Hai Duong newspaper were placed on the table as usual, neatly, solemnly and very familiarly.

Generations of journalists and readers have been attached to this newspaper. It is not only a familiar print publication but also a part of my memory and that of many others. That newspaper was once a guiding tool of the province, a companion of grassroots cadres, a voice of responsible criticism, a bridge between the people and the Party Committee and government in Hai Duong...

As someone who has been attached to the newspaper for more than 15 years, I am truly regretful. The printed newspaper is like a friend, witnessing my growth. There are times when I am happy when my news article is printed on the front page, and there are times when I am silent because the article is edited, cut, or rejected... but each time like that, I learn to listen, to understand the carefulness in each word. The printed newspaper is not just a product but the crystallization of many silent efforts, from reporters who work hard in the sun and rain, the diligent and knowledgeable editor, to the quiet distributor who brings the newspaper to each familiar reader every morning.

Today, our Hai Duong newspaper officially ceases publication. We are not saying goodbye, because this is not the end. This is just a change of the times, a reasonable arrangement for the flow of information to continuously develop, become stronger and more effective.

I believe that when Hai Duong journalists enter the "common house" with their colleagues from the port city, they will bring with them the spirit of the East, diligence, responsibility, frankness but full of humanity. The new newspaper will have a different appearance, a different scale, but will still maintain the source that has been forged over the years, that is, integrity, objectivity, a voice for the benefit of the people and the community.

The merger of Hai Duong and Hai Phong is also an opportunity for writers and newspapers to connect and interact. Articles that carry the breath of the new land will still contain the spirit of loving the homeland, preserving identity, encouraging the good, criticizing the wrong and inspiring a beautiful life.
