After nearly a week of exciting competition, on the evening of August 16, the first Ho Chi Minh City Police Volleyball Tournament for the City Police Newspaper Cup - 2024 ended successfully with the championship of the first season belonging to the host team, Ho Chi Minh City Police.
The final match took place between the two best teams of the tournament, Ho Chi Minh City Police and Ho Chi Minh City, when both had gone through dramatic and exciting semi-finals to reach the final match.
With the enthusiastic cheers of fans packed into Tan Binh Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City Police (as the host) played very well and quickly took the advantage in the first game with a difference of 25 - 16.
In the second game, Ho Chi Minh City tried their best and caused many difficulties, but Ho Chi Minh City Police still showed their bravery and won with a score of 25 - 23. In the deciding game, Coach Vu Van Duan's students continued to maintain their form and quickly took a long lead over their opponents, ending the game with a score of 25 - 20.
With a 3-0 victory, Ho Chi Minh City Police became the champion of the first season of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Volleyball Tournament for the “City Police Newspaper” Cup; received the flag cup and 60 million VND. Ho Chi Minh City came in second and tied for third place were the two teams Ben Tre and Visakha Club (Cambodia).
The Organizing Committee also awarded individual awards such as best main attacker to Lam Van Sanh (Ho Chi Minh City Police), best middle blocker to Che Quoc Vo Lit (Ho Chi Minh City); best setter to Pham Hoai Phuong (Ho Chi Minh City); best opposite setter to Sokchea (Visakha - Cambodia); best libero to Nguyen Trung Hieu (Ho Chi Minh City Police).
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Colonel Bui Ngoc Giap, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Specialized Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee, thanked the teams for competing with all their might in a noble sportsmanship spirit, giving the audience good and exciting matches, contributing to the success of the tournament.
It is known that the first "Ho Chi Minh City Police Newspaper" Open Volleyball Tournament was held to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024), the 79th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and on the occasion of the City Public Security receiving the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the renovation period. In the first season, the tournament had the participation of 7 domestic teams and one international guest./.
