Care and attention so that the elderly can always live happily, healthily and usefully.

Comprehensive care

Over the past years, the province has synchronously implemented health care activities for the elderly, from disease prevention, periodic health check-ups to treatment and rehabilitation. The grassroots health network, especially commune and ward health stations, has become a reliable "support point", helping the elderly feel more secure in health care and protection.

Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Hoang Uyen said: “Taking care of the elderly's health is one of the major priorities of the health sector. We not only maintain medical examination and treatment activities and manage health records for the elderly, but also focus on organizing regular check-ups, providing free medicine and providing guidance on preventing chronic diseases common in old age. The most important thing is that each elderly person feels cared for, has access to convenient, timely and humane health services. Not only are they cared for, but they are also a spiritual support and a shining example for their families and the community. The health sector wishes to accompany the elderly to live happily and healthily, continue to share experiences and wisdom, contribute to educating the younger generation and build a cultural life in the locality.”

Thanks to that attention, every year, hundreds of thousands of elderly people in the province receive regular health check-ups. Thereby, helping the elderly detect early cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, blood pressure, etc.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (residing in Thu Thua commune) shared: “In the past, I was often subjective and rarely went to the doctor. Since the locality organized regular health check-ups for the elderly, I have been regularly checked for blood pressure, heart rate, and blood sugar. Thanks to that, my high blood pressure was detected and well controlled. I feel secure and appreciate the attention that the government and the health sector give to the elderly.”

The attention of all levels and sectors is a great source of encouragement for the elderly.

Along with health care, the province also focuses on cultural, artistic and physical activities for the elderly. Art and physical training clubs have developed strongly in many communes and wards, becoming useful "playgrounds", creating opportunities for the elderly to exchange, exercise and maintain an optimistic spirit.

In My Le commune, activities to care for the elderly are associated with building a cultural life for the community. Vice Chairman of My Le Commune People's Committee Nguyen Phuc Truong said: "Caring for the elderly is not only a policy but also a responsibility and a gratitude of the whole community. In recent times, the commune has maintained art clubs and health clubs, creating conditions for the elderly to participate in regular activities. In addition, the commune also organizes talks on health, training in disease prevention and control skills, helping the elderly gain more knowledge to take care of themselves."

Help the elderly live happily, healthily and usefully

Not only the health sector and authorities at all levels, the provincial Social Work Centers and the provincial Social Protection Centers also actively accompany and care for the elderly. Accordingly, many activities to support and care for lonely elderly people have been implemented.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Huyen - Caregiver of the Provincial Social Work Center, shared: "We regularly visit, encourage, organize activities, chat, and help the elderly feel less lonely. Some elderly people only need a word of greeting or a conversation to feel warm. For those with poor health, we coordinate with medical staff to monitor and provide dedicated care." It can be seen that the care and attention for the elderly does not stop at medical services but also includes spiritual companionship and sharing, helping the elderly have more faith and joy in life.

One of the key factors for the elderly to have a happy life is the companionship of family and community. On the occasion of International Day of Elderly People October 1, all levels, sectors and localities in the province organized many delegations to visit and give gifts to the elderly.

Happy to receive a visit and gift from the provincial leaders, Mr. Tran Xien (Provincial Social Protection Center) expressed: "I am very touched by the attention of the provincial leaders and the sectors and organizations. This is a great source of encouragement to help us, the elderly, feel cared for, not be left behind and continue to strive to improve in life."

The province synchronously deploys health care activities for the elderly.

In Tay Ninh , the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" has long been a highlight. With a sense of responsibility and life experience, the elderly have become the core force in mobilizing people to comply with the policies of the Party and the State; actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, especially activities to preserve traditional customs and build cultural life in residential areas. They are living proof of the spirit of "living happily, living healthily, living usefully".

Ms. Le Thi Tho (residing in My Le commune) said: “We, the elderly, must first set an example for our children and grandchildren in maintaining a good lifestyle, obeying the law, working hard, and caring for the community. I always remind my children and grandchildren that studying to become successful is important, but living with love and responsibility for family and society is even more important.”

The elderly are a precious asset of the family and society, the ones who keep the memories, traditions and good values of the nation. Therefore, the care for the elderly not only reflects the social security policy but also symbolizes humanity, gratitude and moral continuity.

International Day of the Elderly (October 1) in 2025 with the message "For a healthy community, join hands to take care of the elderly's health" is a reminder for everyone to be aware of their responsibility in caring for and looking after the elderly so that they can live happily, healthily and usefully./.
