President Luong Cuong meets with Turkish President

On September 24 (local time), President Luong Cuong met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of attending the High-level General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, combined with bilateral activities in the United States.

President Luong Cuong congratulated Turkey on its important socio -economic development achievements in recent times; expressed his belief that under the wise leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey will successfully achieve its set strategic development goals; and affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening the friendship and cooperation with Turkey, a leading important partner in the Middle East region.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his impression of Vietnam's outstanding socio-economic development achievements and affirmed that Türkiye considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asian region.

The Turkish President also expressed his agreement with President Luong Cuong's proposal to promote delegation exchanges, especially at high levels, in the coming time, and said that the two countries are at a favorable time to develop relations to a new height.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the remarkable progress in bilateral relations in recent years and at the same time, believed that there is still much potential and room to develop the relationship to new heights; agreed to continue to strive to soon achieve the bilateral turnover target of 4 billion USD, and at the same time study and form new frameworks to further facilitate trade and investment, including promoting a free trade agreement between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed specific measures to promote cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment, defense-security, tourism and people-to-people exchange.

The two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation at multilateral forums and discuss a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to visit Vietnam soon. The Turkish President happily thanked and accepted the invitation.
