National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly: Visit and work at the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran

Continuing the activities within the framework of the official visit to Iran, on the afternoon of August 9 (Tehran time), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly visited and worked at the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran. Joining the delegation, on the side of Thai Binh province was comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly delegation of the province.

In front of scholars, researchers and Iranian ambassadors who have worked in countries around the world, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue gave an important speech on the relationship "Vietnam - Iran cooperation for peace and development".

Sharing the story of Vietnam and the path forward, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue informed: Since 1986, Vietnam has chosen the path of comprehensive and synchronous innovation. Reality shows that this is an absolutely correct choice given the conditions and circumstances of a poor, backward country, heavily devastated by war, besieged and severely embargoed, which has risen to achieve great and historic achievements, becoming a middle-income developing country with strong and deep international integration. After 35 years of innovation, from 1986 to 2021, Vietnam's economy has always grown at an average rate of about 6% per year for decades, with the economic scale increasing 12 times. GDP per capita reached 4,163 USD in 2022. Today, Vietnam has trade relations with over 220 countries and territories, with trade turnover reaching 730 billion USD in 2022; total foreign direct investment (FDI) reached nearly 450 billion USD with 37,000 projects from 143 countries and territories, ranked by the United Nations in the group of 20 most successful countries in the world in attracting FDI. The national poverty rate decreased from 58% in 1993 to 2.23% in 2021 according to the new multidimensional poverty standard of the United Nations. During the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2021 - 2022, Vietnam steadfastly implemented the "dual goal" of disease prevention and control along with socio-economic recovery and achieved impressive results. In 2022, Vietnam's GDP growth reached 8.02%; Inflation was kept low at 3.15%. Despite being a latecomer, Vietnam has covered 260 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine for a population of nearly 100 million people, becoming one of the six countries with the largest vaccine coverage in the world. Despite many difficulties, Vietnam always focuses on ensuring social security, leaving no one behind.

To achieve such comprehensive and encouraging achievements, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized the lesson learned from practice, which is to firmly maintain the leadership role of the Party, Government and National Assembly of Vietnam with the spirit of taking the people as the root.

According to the National Assembly Chairman, Vietnam focuses on implementing three strategic breakthroughs: perfecting synchronous institutions, developing human resources, and building a synchronous and modern infrastructure system. Vietnam consistently implements a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration comprehensively, deeply and effectively.

In the spirit of being a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community, Vietnam has been synchronously and comprehensively implementing the pillars of Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy, Parliamentary diplomacy, Government diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Vietnam has always proactively and actively participated and contributed with a constructive spirit and the highest responsibility to common efforts, successfully assuming responsibilities at many important multilateral mechanisms, implementing the commitment to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050, and participating in the United Nations peacekeeping force.

* On August 9-10, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries; attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Cultural Week in Iran on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Iran (an event organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran and a number of Iranian units); visited and worked at the Iran Center for Innovation and Technology (IHIT), one of the leading organizations in the region in researching, promoting and exporting innovative and high-tech products and services of Iran.
