On October 8, the Department of Treatment on Demand - Sports Medicine, People's Hospital 115 announced that the unit had just successfully handled a case of severe breast abscess caused by injecting filler of unknown origin at an untrustworthy cosmetic facility.
The patient is a 20-year-old woman working in Malaysia. Two months before being hospitalized, she went to a cosmetic clinic to have fillers injected into both breasts in order to improve her figure.
A few days after the procedure, she discovered that her right breast began to swell, become hot, red, painful, and ooze an unusual green fluid.

A week before being admitted to the hospital, when the condition became more serious, the patient went to People's Hospital 115 for a check-up. During the examination, the doctors noted that the patient's right breast was swollen one and a half times larger than the left breast, hot, red, and felt throbbing when pressed. At the injection site, a green pus leak was noted. The ultrasound results confirmed the image of an abscess in the right breast area.
According to Dr. Khuong Quoc Khoa, Department of Treatment on Demand - Sports Medicine, People's Hospital 115, if this case is not handled promptly, it can affect aesthetics. Complications can even spread, affecting life. Immediately, the girl was taken to the emergency operating room.
"During the surgery, we aspirated out about 100ml of cloudy, thin pus mixed with viscous filler and a foul odor. The team made a wide incision and cleaned the abscess, draining it to control the infection," Dr. Khoa shared.
After more than 10 days of antibiotic treatment, wound care and close monitoring, the patient recovered stably and was discharged from the hospital. The surgical breast area still ensured aesthetics, leaving no significant deformities.

From this case, Dr. Khoa warned that cosmetic procedures using filler injections at unprestigious facilities can lead to infection, loss of aesthetics, bad scars, and even endanger health if the condition persists or is not treated properly.
Doctors recommend that people only perform cosmetic procedures at licensed facilities with specialized cosmetic and plastic surgeons, and absolutely do not inject fillers of unknown origin. If there are unusual symptoms after injection, the victim should go to the hospital immediately for timely treatment.
