More than 250 associations, companies, manufacturing and import-export corporations in many different fields of Vietnam and China attended the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai said that today's Vietnam - China (Shandong) Trade Promotion, Investment and Business Connection Conference, following the success of the Vietnam - China (Shandong) Trade Connection Conference in 2024, is extremely necessary and meaningful, creating opportunities for Vietnamese and Shandong enterprises to strengthen connections and mutual understanding, thereby finding new partners and expanding the market.
According to Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade is proud to not only contribute to the strong development of Vietnam-China economic and trade cooperation but also be one of the agencies actively promoting cooperative relations with important Chinese ministries, branches and localities.
In that trend, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Provincial Party Committee and People's Government of Shandong Province have established a very good cooperative relationship in recent years. Statistics have clearly demonstrated this when the trade turnover between Vietnam and Shandong in 2024 reached a growth rate of 12.5%. Notably, in the first 8 months of 2025, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Shandong increased by 18.9%; of which, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to Shandong increased by 29.4%, making Vietnam the third largest trade partner of Shandong in ASEAN.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai emphasized that the potential for economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Shandong province, China, is still very large, as the trade turnover between Vietnam and Shandong province currently accounts for only 4.5% of the total Vietnam-China trade turnover and 2.5% of Shandong's total foreign trade turnover in 2024.
"The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade is ready to accompany and support the business communities of both sides in the cooperation process, promote agreements and projects to achieve practical and sustainable results, and actively contribute to the good working relationship between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Shandong government in particular, as well as the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China in general" - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai affirmed.
Strengthening the friendly neighborly cooperation between the two countries
Highly appreciating the significance of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, President of the Vietnam - China Friendship Association, emphasized that the stature, role and important significance of the comprehensive, close, friendly, neighborly cooperation relationship between Vietnam and China has been established by the highest leaders of the two Parties and two States for many years in the past and has a very clear and specific orientation in the future with the joint construction of a "Vietnam - China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance".

The world today is undergoing rapid, complex and unpredictable changes in geopolitics and geo-economics; especially the "headwinds" for global economy and trade in recent times have posed many difficulties and challenges but also brought opportunities for all countries.
“This further requires Vietnam and China to consolidate and strengthen closer cooperation to facilitate economic, trade and investment cooperation activities between the business communities of the two countries; contributing to helping each country's economy minimize impacts and effectively respond to current global economic and trade difficulties,” said Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Vietnam has become China's fourth largest trading partner globally and China's largest trading partner in ASEAN. However, we cannot be satisfied because we see a lot of potential and room to expand and deepen the scale of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries that has not been exploited.
Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh hopes and believes that the conference will open up many new cooperation opportunities for the business communities of the two countries, contributing to the strong and effective development of economic and trade relations between Vietnam and China in general, and between Vietnamese localities and Shandong province, China in particular, commensurate with the potential and inherent strengths of both sides.

Shandong Province is located at the intersection of the Belt and Road Initiative and the center of Northeast Asia economic cooperation. It is populous, has a long-standing culture, and is one of China's major economic provinces.
In 2024, Shandong's GDP will reach 9.86 trillion yuan (about 1.35 trillion US dollars), growing by 5.7%, ranking third in the country. The first half of this year grew by 5.6%, and the whole year is expected to exceed 10 trillion yuan, opening a new stage of development.

According to Mr. Lam Vu, the Vietnam-China friendship was cultivated from "red genes", developing in mutually beneficial cooperation. In recent years, Shandong has continuously expanded exchanges with localities of Vietnam and has achieved many good results. Last August, Shandong province and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, promoting the upgrading of economic and trade cooperation. Many enterprises such as Goertek and Sailun have invested in building factories in Vietnam. In the first half of this year, the total import-export turnover between Shandong and Vietnam exceeded 47 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3%.
“With Shandong's outstanding potential such as its rich culture, the convergence of the quintessence of Chinese civilization, strong agriculture, complete modern industry, possessing 41 large-scale industries, more than 100 key products with output in the top 3 of the country. This is also a province strong in science and education, with innovation capacity among the top in China... it is a great opportunity to promote cooperation, trade and investment between the two countries" - Mr. Lam Vu emphasized.

Within the framework of the conference, there was also a trade program between Vietnamese and Shandong enterprises (China) with the participation of more than 250 enterprises in the main fields: mechanics, construction, information technology, food, agricultural products, electromechanical equipment and components, energy, new materials, trade, import and export, etc.

Through the trade program, businesses from both sides have the opportunity to meet, exchange and discuss directly about issues of business interest and import and export needs of specific products.
The Vietnam - China (Shandong) Trade, Investment Promotion and Business Connection Conference is also an opportunity to open up new opportunities, continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises and Shandong province (China) to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of trade, actively contributing to promoting the stable and sustainable development of Vietnam - China economic and trade relations, continuing to be a bright spot in bilateral relations.
