Professor, Academician Ho Ton Trinh: Cultural figure of Thanh Sen land

On the morning of September 27, the Ha Tinh Provincial Historical Science Association coordinated with the Ho Family Council of Ha Tinh Province to organize a scientific discussion with the theme "Professor - Academician Ho Ton Trinh - Culturalist of Thanh Sen Land".

Professor, Academician Ho Ton Trinh (pen name Hoang Trinh) was born on September 28, 1920 in Vientiane - Laos, originally from Dai Nai ward, Ha Tinh city, now Thanh Sen ward, Ha Tinh province, passed away on March 19, 2011 in Hanoi . He was a cultural researcher who held the following positions: Director of the Vietnam Institute of Literature, Editor-in-Chief of Literature Magazine, Chairman of the Scientific Council - Vietnam Institute of Literature.

Master Nguyen Tri Son - Chairman of Ha Tinh Historical Science Association opened the discussion.

He is an important contributor to the construction of modern Vietnamese literary theory, pioneering in the exploration, research, and application of modern achievements of world literary theory such as semiotics, poetics, and comparative literature, contributing to opening the door for international friends to know more about Vietnamese literature and culture, and at the same time contributing to bringing the quintessence of world literature and culture to the Vietnamese people.

In 1979, Professor and Academician Ho Ton Trinh was honored to be elected as an Honorary Academician of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In 1982, he was awarded the title of Professor; in 1989, he received the Rokefeller Science Award (USA); in 1996, he was honored to receive the first Ho Chi Minh Award for a group of 5 works on literary theory and criticism.

His scientific legacy has always stood the test of time and continues to be promoted, contributing to the development of Vietnamese culture. Professor Ho Ton Trinh's great contributions have been recognized by the State and the international community. He was awarded the First Class Independence Medal; First Class Labor Medal; Third and First Class Resistance Medals and many other noble awards.

At the seminar, experts and researchers discussed the life, career and contributions of Professor, Academician Ho Ton Trinh to the development of Vietnamese literature and culture, along with historical figures of the Ho family - Ha Tinh in the cause of protecting and building the country; solutions to preserve and promote the heritage values of the Ho family - Con Phuong and Professor, Academician Ho Ton Trinh in his homeland in the coming time.

Dr. Nguyen Huy Binh - Deputy Director, Head of the Vietnam Literature Institute, closed the discussion.

In addition, it is recommended that the authorities and functional agencies of Ha Tinh province consider the basic criteria according to the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage to be able to compile a scientific dossier to rank the Ho Con Phuong family church relic as a provincial-level Historical and Cultural Relic in the near future.
