According to Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh, green buildings and green transportation are issues that have always been of concern and direction to the Party and the State. The number of green buildings and green transportation will continue to grow in 2024 and 2025.
By the end of the third quarter of 2025, the number of green buildings nationwide will reach about 600, with a total construction floor area of nearly 17 million m2 .
Currently, the country has 183,240 electric cars and 974 electric buses in circulation. The two leading localities are Hanoi with 38,445 electric cars and 317 electric buses, and Ho Chi Minh City with 38,444 electric cars and 507 electric buses.
Da Nang, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa… are also recording strong growth, making important contributions to the development of a green and sustainable economy .
At the seminar, experts agreed that the transition to a green and sustainable economy is no longer an option but an urgent requirement. Climate change is occurring at an alarming rate, requiring drastic actions from policymakers and the investment community. Green investment has become a key "financial engine" to promote sustainable development, creating large capital flows towards projects with positive impacts on the environment and society.
Opinions at the discussion also clarified practical barriers: from policy mechanisms, difficulties in accessing green capital, to the pressure of initial investment costs for green conversion. To be commensurate with the new development trend, projects using public investment capital also need to consider regulations towards green construction, in order to lead the market development.
