Vietnam Trade Union launches program to care for workers on the occasion of Tet Binh Ngo 2026

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has just issued Plan No. 34 signed by President Nguyen Dinh Khang, on organizing activities to take care of the Lunar New Year 2026 for union members and workers under the guidance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The theme of the 2026 program is “A Happy Tet - A Spring of Thanks to the Party” with the motto “All union members and workers have a happy Tet”. The General Confederation will mobilize maximum resources and synchronously deploy activities from the central to grassroots levels, ensuring that all workers, especially those in difficult circumstances, are well taken care of.

At the union level, working groups will visit, present gifts and wish a happy new year to workers in enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones, remote areas, and those in arduous, hazardous occupations or those affected by natural disasters. Each gift is expected to be worth 1.3 million VND, including 1 million VND in cash and 300,000 VND in kind, paid from the regular operating fund of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Along with that, the program "Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" will be organized in two forms: directly in a locality with a large number of workers (expected to be Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City) and online through the issuance of discount codes for union members. The Tet market provides essential goods and services at preferential prices, giving away "0 VND" products, discounts, and at the same time organizing legal advice, health advice, medical examination and medicine, and free motorbike oil changes for workers.

A new feature this year is the “Union Year-end Dinner” program with meals worth 70,000 VND, supported by union and socialized financial resources. This is an opportunity for employees, unions and employers to meet, share, and create an atmosphere of solidarity and attachment.

In addition, trade unions at all levels will continue to implement the activities of "Tet Sum Vay", "Tet Not Far From Home", organize buses, trains, and planes to take workers home to celebrate Tet, especially giving priority to workers who have not had the opportunity to return home for many years. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also supports southern localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai , and Tay Ninh to organize buses, trains, and planes to take workers back to the Central and Northern provinces.

According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the scale and resources for taking care of the Lunar New Year 2026 are expected to be larger than previous years, mobilizing an estimated 6,000 billion VND, an increase of 10-15% compared to 2025. Trade unions at all levels are assigned to proactively balance finances, mobilize social resources and choose appropriate organizational forms, ensuring that all care activities are directed towards the grassroots, reaching the hands of workers and laborers.
