Da Nang "revives" Champa heritage in the middle of the city

According to Dan Viet reporters, these days, workers and machines are being mobilized to the maximum to renovate, repair and upgrade the Cham Sculpture Museum (Hai Chau ward, Da Nang city).

The project to renovate, repair and upgrade the Cham Sculpture Museum has a total investment of more than 11.4 billion VND, starting on May 5.

The project aims to renovate and build new items: Build new fences, gates, landscape gardening, heat insulation, waterproofing, and renovate the toilet system.

Currently, the items have completed over 70% of the volume.

In the first 7 months of 2025, the Museum welcomed more than 128,500 visitors, an increase of 8% over the same period, of which international visitors accounted for the majority with more than 115,700.

The Cham Sculpture Museum currently holds 2,000 artifacts, of which 500 are displayed in 10 spaces.

In particular, 12 national treasures are being preserved here, including 11 treasures displayed in 6 spaces, while the Dong Duong Tara Bodhisattva statue - the only bronze artifact in the collection - is only displayed in a limited edition.

Not only stopping at conservation work, the Museum also focuses on education and communication activities. The unit has researched and developed the project "Heritage education at the Cham Sculpture Museum in the period 2025 - 2027, orientation to 2030", aiming to develop educational programs suitable for each public group.

Speaking with Dan Viet reporter, Ms. Le Thi Thu Trang - Director of Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum said that the project's construction stages are being accelerated, aiming to be completed by November 2025.

Recently, at the site inspection and working session with the Museum of Cham Sculpture, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi requested the construction unit to speed up, add more human resources and equipment, organize many parallel construction teams, and ensure the project is completed on schedule in November 2025.

According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the Museum of Cham Sculpture has a lot of potential and advantages to attract visitors. Therefore, the goal of the project after completion is that the Museum must achieve quality infrastructure, meet the requirements of technology and service quality, to be worthy of being a first-class museum, a special destination of Da Nang in particular and of Vietnam in general.
