Dakrong implements target program to build drug-free commune

QTO - On the afternoon of October 16, Dakrong commune held a conference to deploy the target program of building a drug-free commune and organized a signing ceremony of a commitment to prevent and combat drugs in the commune for the period 2025-2030.

Dakrong Commune, Quang Tri Province is a border area with National Highway 9 and the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Road passing through, so it is at risk of many social evils. Taking advantage of the remote and isolated border area, criminals lure people into buying, selling, and transporting drugs. In addition, a number of young people are spoiled and at risk of violating the law on drug possession, sale, and use.

According to Dakrong Commune Police, through screening, the commune currently has about 300 subjects at risk, high risk and very high risk of violating drug laws, of which 20 subjects are in category 105. Recently, the commune has discovered 3 cases/3 subjects violating drug laws, seizing 802 synthetic drug pills.

At the conference, delegates were informed of the directives of the Commune Party Committee, the plan of the Commune People's Committee on drug prevention and control for the period 2025-2023, the situation of social order and security in the locality after 3 months of implementing the two-level local government apparatus and the topic of drug prevention and control among youth.

Representatives of the Party Committee, People's Committee of the commune and departments, branches, organizations, agencies and units signed a commitment with the goal: Strengthening the responsibility of the political system, promoting the role of agencies, departments, branches, organizations and the entire population in drug prevention and control. Determined to build Dakrong commune out of the drug-related complex by 2027. By 2030, aiming to become a drug-free area.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Dakrong commune will direct, operate, inspect and urge departments, branches, unions, villages and schools to implement the plan to prevent and combat drug crimes; promptly reward collectives and individuals who effectively implement it; and strictly handle cases of irresponsibility that lead to drug abuse.

Agencies, departments, branches and commune unions develop specific plans for implementation, integrate drug prevention and control into emulation movements, professional activities, and widely propagate among all union members; closely coordinate with commune, village and school police to detect, denounce, reform and help addicts reintegrate into the community.

Villages in the area strictly manage household registration, screen drug addicts and high-risk people; organize the signing of the commitment "Families and villages are free of drugs"; increase propaganda in common and ethnic languages; mobilize people to denounce crimes, not to grow plants containing drugs. Schools include drug prevention and control education in the first activities of the week, extracurricular lessons; coordinate with parents and commune police to strictly manage students, promptly detect signs of drug-related violations.
