90% of weddings have a dress code to make the party more beautiful

Coming up with ideas for an outdoor wedding with a consistent theme, colors... mostly requires the hands of wedding planners - professional wedding designers.

According to wedding design experts, the dress code for guests is not an indispensable part, but has become a very normal thing in today's weddings.

Ms. Thanh Phuong - a professional wedding designer - said that up to 90% of her client couples have requests for a dress code for their guests. Or if the couple does not have a request, people like her can also make suggestions.

"The dress code is usually the couple's favorite color and should be in harmony and beauty with the wedding setting, not because they "don't want the guests to stand out more than the bride". To make it easier for guests to prepare, they often choose a dress code of neutral, easy-to-wear colors," Ms. Phuong shared.

Ms. Thanh Xuan - founder of Meraki wedding planner - also said that the practice of setting a dress code for guests became popular in Vietnam 5-6 years ago. The purpose is usually to make the wedding image more beautiful, showing the couple's personality.

"People are becoming more and more accustomed to the dress code when attending weddings. Couples also tend to have small, intimate weddings with mostly close guests. So most of the guests are happy. In a way, they also enjoy wearing the same color scheme as the other guests.

"Wearing the required attire also shows the respect and love of the party attendees for the bride and groom," she added.

Fun but complicated and time consuming

Having attended a wedding with a dress code, Tran Thuy Linh (28) said she would respect it and try to dress appropriately if the invitation required it. But she added that she would be more comfortable if she did not have to dress according to the host’s request.

"Many of my company's year-end parties also require a dress code to create a cohesive atmosphere and team spirit. My best friend's wedding was held in a garden, and the group photos did look better. But other than that, there are no other benefits.

Meanwhile, the dress code regulation can be difficult for many people. For example, I don't like yellow tones, so I don't have yellow in my wardrobe. I'm also a minimalist - a minimalist style - so I don't like buying clothes just to wear for one occasion and then throw them away," Linh shared.

Just like company uniforms, wearing group uniforms, many people like to be free to dress and do not want to be constrained, spending a lot of time preparing when attending a wedding party.

"Weddings have color regulations, which makes guests have to spend more time preparing. Normally, it's hard enough for me to find the dress I want, but now it has to follow the party's rules, so it takes even more effort," said Bao Ngoc, 31 years old.

However, most young people still think that dress code for weddings is not something strange or excessive.

"Dress code is normal and not something to be condemned. It's like having a group of close friends who like to wear the same clothes to take souvenir photos, or a family wearing the same clothes to take photos to create a special memory.

Many people now prefer small, pretty wedding parties and only invite people who are really close to them. The bride and groom have found a wedding design expert, of course they want everything to be the best, to preserve beautiful images for both them and the guests," Bao Ngoc shared more.

What do you think about the bride and groom making requests about the color of the wedding guests' outfits? Do you think it is normal, fussy, or too much? Please share your opinions at tto@tuoitre.com.vn. Tuoi Tre Online thanks you.
