Highlight Vietnam 3-1 Nepal: Tien Linh, Xuan Manh, Van Vi compete to score
At 7:30 p.m. on October 9, the two teams Vietnam and Nepal entered the match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers at Go Dau Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) in the context that the situation in Group F could change if the AFC imposes a penalty on the Malaysian team for the naturalization scandal.
Before the match, the Vietnamese team temporarily ranked second with 1 win against Laos and 1 loss against Malaysia. Meanwhile, the Nepal team ranked last with 2 losses. The Vietnamese team was rated higher in all aspects and also ranked 62 places above Nepal on the FIFA rankings.

Tien Linh 'opens account', young players have not been selected to play as main players
Coach Kim Sang-sik fielded a familiar lineup with veteran players such as Tien Linh, Duy Manh, Hoang Duc, Tuan Hai,... and the return of goalkeeper Dang Van Lam. The players promoted from the U.23 team were not in the starting lineup.
Meanwhile, Nepal coach Matt Ross still chose the names that played in the recent friendly match with Hong Kong, most notably striker Anjan Bista - who scored 13 goals in 70 matches for the national team.
After the opening whistle, the Vietnamese team immediately rushed to attack and only took 10 minutes to open the score against Nepal. From a precise cross from the right wing, Tien Linh controlled the ball neatly with his first touch and then launched a dangerous diagonal shot, defeating the opponent's goalkeeper. Before the match, Tien Linh shared his desire to score again for the Vietnamese team after two "silent" matches against Laos and Malaysia.

But the Nepalese team did not have to wait too long for an answer. From a free kick on the left wing, a Nepalese player crossed the ball into the penalty area, where defender Sanish Shrestha chose the exact landing point and jumped high to head the ball dangerously, leaving goalkeeper Dang Van Lam just standing there watching the ball fly into the net.
Nepal team had the answer just 7 minutes after Tien Linh's opening goal.

With the unexpected equalizer, the Vietnamese team continued to increase the pressure on Nepal's field. Hoang Duc, Thanh Long, and Tien Linh created chances one after another but their final shots lacked precision. In the 25th minute, Tuan Hai put the ball into Nepal's net after a very good coordination between his teammates, but unfortunately the goal was disallowed due to an offside.
In the remaining time of the first half, coach Kim Sang-sik's team increased the speed of the match in search of a goal to double the gap while Nepal almost pushed the entire squad to their home field, defending. In the third minute of injury time of the first half, Hai Long ran down to face the Nepalese goalkeeper, but was fouled by defender Laken Limbu right in front of the penalty area. The referee did not hesitate to show a red card, expelling the Nepalese player. This was considered a major turning point, opening up an opportunity for the Vietnamese team to take advantage of the advantage of having more players in the second half and decide the match.

Coach Kim made reasonable substitutions, helping the Vietnamese team break the deadlock.
In the second half, coach Kim Sang-sik made the first substitution when Bui Tien Dung left the field to make way for Nguyen Van Vi.
Just like the first half, the Vietnamese strikers rushed forward to put pressure on the opposing team's goal and Tien Linh and Cao Pendant Quang Vinh continuously created some notable opportunities. However, while the opposing team was defending, Vietnamese fans were shocked when goalkeeper Dang Van Lam made a mistake. In a situation where he went out of the penalty area to clear the ball, the Vietnamese goalkeeper made a mistake and let the ball go into the opponent's feet. Fortunately, the away team could not take advantage of this opportunity.
In the 63rd minute, coach Kim Sang-sik made two substitutions with two young faces, Thanh Nhan and Gia Hung, replacing Tuan Hai and Hai Long.
After many efforts, the second goal finally came to the home team. In the 67th minute, from Tien Anh's corner kick, the Nepalese goalkeeper punched the ball unsafely to Xuan Manh's feet and immediately, the player wearing the number 7 shirt made no mistake in launching an accurate shot that neatly put the ball into the net.

With the lead, the Vietnamese team played with a more relaxed spirit. Just 5 minutes later, it was the turn of substitute player Van Vi to increase the score to 3-1 with a tap-in into the empty net. The previous effort was a very tricky shot by Hoang Duc that goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong could not catch the ball neatly.
Van Vi celebrated by putting the ball in his shirt as a sign that his family had good news.

As the match gradually entered its final minutes, Coach Kim withdrew Duy Manh and Thanh Long to rest and give Duc Chien and Dinh Bac a chance. In the 90+2 minute, Thanh Nhan almost scored from a beautiful cross by Tien Anh but the final shot was inaccurate. The final score of the match was 3-1.
With this win, the Vietnamese team is still temporarily ranked second as in the remaining match, the Malaysian team defeated the Lao team with a score of 3-0. At 7:30 p.m. on October 14, the Vietnamese and Nepal teams will meet again at Thong Nhat Stadium in the second leg.
