Acecook Vietnam: 3 decades of sustainable development, joining hands for the green planet

Since the early days of establishing the company in Vietnam, the founders of this company have nurtured the belief that business development must go hand in hand with community development. From that philosophy, “Green Planet” has become an important pillar in Acecook Vietnam’s sustainable strategy.

For Acecook Vietnam, “Green Planet” is not a formal slogan, but is realized through small actions, repeated every day in the entire operating system. Every step, even if silent, contributes to creating a seamless “green circle” - where sustainable development is no longer a declaration, but the daily rhythm of business life.

“Green planet” - clean energy

Green energy conversion plays an important role in the sustainable development strategy of enterprises. For Acecook Vietnam, the journey towards a "Green Planet" also begins with energy optimization.

To achieve this goal, Acecook Vietnam has installed a solar power system at its head office and factory in Ho Chi Minh City to generate an average electricity output of 900,000 kWh/year, enough to produce about 36 million Hao Hao noodle packages.

The application of clean energy not only brings significant economic benefits but also demonstrates the company's strong commitment to reducing CO2 emissions, actively contributing to environmental protection.

In parallel with solar power installation, Acecook also actively deploys other renewable fuel sources into the production process.

Since 2021, the company has installed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) boiler systems at a number of factories. This conversion has brought about clear results with CO2 emissions reduced by about 43%, NOx (nitrogen oxide) reduced by 70% and SO2 (sulfur oxide) no longer generated.

In addition, traditional boilers are gradually being replaced by rice husk boilers - an environmentally friendly and affordable biofuel. Since 2023, Acecook Vietnam has continued to promote the conversion to biomass boilers for the remaining factories.

As a result, the company has increased its renewable energy usage to 54% by 2025 and now aims to complete the transition to renewable fuels for all plants by 2025.

Reduce plastic packaging - reduce pressure on the environment

In addition to energy optimization, Acecook Vietnam also demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development by strictly complying with the 2020 Environmental Protection Law.

Since July 2024, the company has replaced plastic packaging with paper packaging for its main cup, bowl, and tray noodle products such as Modern, Handy Hao Hao, and Caykay, helping to reduce about 1,900 tons of plastic per year.

Acecook Vietnam is also gradually replacing plastic forks with bioplastic with 40% to less than 60% bio-carbon content on some cup and bowl noodle products, and these forks have achieved Ok Biobased 2* certification from TUV Austria (Europe).

When green commitment turns into action

To realize the goal of sustainable development, the company has established an effective production by-product recycling cycle. This not only reduces pressure on the environment but also optimizes operational efficiency.

At Acecook Vietnam, production by-products are utilized as animal feed through cooperation with partners instead of being discarded. Thanks to that, about 1,500 tons of by-products are recycled each year.

Acecook Vietnam also implements Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). From 2024, the company signed a contract with Vina Kraft Paper Co., Ltd. to recycle all paper packaging, expected to reach 7,000-8,000 tons/year.

For plastic packaging, Acecook also fulfills its obligation to pay recycling fees to the Vietnam Environmental Protection Fund as prescribed. In addition, the company actively spreads environmental protection awareness to each employee and the community through meaningful campaigns. One of them is "Continuing the life of plastic cups", encouraging people to creatively recycle plastic products into useful items.
